“Experience the beauty of Massachusetts”
A popular spot for visitors, this scenic and dramatic 60-foot waterfall is located in Mount Washington State Forest.
Gorgeous location with a very steep part of the AT running through it. Hike the trail (complete with cables to keep you on your toes) for an unreal ridge view. People will occasionally get in trouble for swimming in the cold water here, but we've all done it.
Great little hiking area. The New York side is close to a small town with a restaurant and historical museum. The only restroom facilities onsite are Porta-Potties located in the parking lots. The MA side also has a small overlook, but all hiking on the MA side requires some efforts. For easy, but longer (and frankly, more scenic) hikes, start from the NY side of the park. Neither route is level enough for strollers or wheelchairs.
There are two parking lots, the MA lot is much closer to the falls. We parked in the NY lot, which is a 3/4 easy hike along a wide, well trodden path. The NY lot is a dirt lot with additional overflow parking.
We easily parked our 21ft motorhome. We were there on a Saturday in mid-July, so there were lots of people climbing on the rocks and wading in the water. There's a viewpoint from the path, and visitors can walk down stone stairs to the pool at the bottom of the falls.
One of our favorite places to check out and swim during the hot summer!
