The dump station is located near the end of the truck/RV parking area and has a tank flush hose, sewer dump location and a spigot marked for drinking water. To pull up to the station so your dump valves are facing the sewer dump, enter the area as if you were leaving a truck/RV parking spot. When doing this you won't need extra dump hose and when finished you can pull straight ahead and exit the Welcome Center following the signage. We visited on 1/1/2024.

We stayed here in October 2020 and July 4th weekend, 2021 while visiting my daughter. If you want to be close to downtown Chicago with your RV this is a great option. As others have commented, there are areas where trucks are parked and could be noisy but we have always parked away from them and never had an issue. Our only issue with noise was July 4th weekend when the fireworks never seemed to stop. You can walk or ride your bike to Lake Shore Trail along Lake Michigan and easily visit any of the downtown attractions. Or call an Uber to pick you up right from the parking lot unless you want to drive your own vehicle. This is not a camping spot it's a parking spot and there are absolutely not hook-ups so be ready to bring what you need and take everything with you. They don't allow "leisure camping" so no setting up camp but I've pulled out a chair and enjoyed the morning with a cup of coffee with no problem. We've seen some people drop their RV and drive off then come back to hook-up and leave several days later. The website to reserve a stay is: mcccormick.parkingguide.com

UPDATE FROM 6/2022 STAY. Still a great location for visiting Chicago with the trailer but this stay surprised us with a lot more semi-trucks in the lot. It was a busy concert weekend in Chicago and so there were many Prevost tour busses and semi-trucks with equipment for the stadium concerts. But even without all the extra trucks and buses the lot was much busier than our previous stays. We will still use this location when visiting Chicago because it's the only location in the city where you can bring an RV and for $38/day.

Arrived on 1/14/2022. This is a good stop for the night. The parking is near the Community Center and ball fields with plenty of room for big rigs. We arrived around 4pm and were the only trailer for the night. We saw several people walking and running around the park area but vehicle traffic in the area was very limited. There are no hook-ups that were working but there is a dump station located at the end of N. Montana Ave. Nice quiet night. The posted fee is $15 but we didn't find a way to make a payment.

Stayed here in January 2022. Several sites have a good amount of room between the neighboring site while others are a bit to close for our liking so I suggest using your mapping software to help with selecting your site. Sites are paved but many are not level so bring your leveling blocks. Several sites have lake views and the boat launching ramp is nearby. All sites have 30 & 50 amp service as well as water. A dumping station is located on your way out of the campground. As others have said the road into the campground could use some maintenance and has many dips and a few potholes but drive slow and the drive is okay. It's a short 15-30 minute drive into Waco depending on where you want to go and plenty of food and supply retailers are available.

Stayed here mid January 2022. the park has many hiking options and some great views of the surrounding mountains. Dogs on leash are allowed on all trails. We stayed at the 5 available RV sites which are set-up as 3 back-in sites (RV1 thru RV3) and 2 "parking lot" sites (RV4 & RV5). The parking lot sites are designed to have the RV park on the pavement and there is an adjoining picnic table in the parking lot island. We saw a Class A, Class B and large van use these sites. Site RV1 seems to be the largest and our 26' Airstream fit okay. Site RV2 is the next largest with RV3 the smallest. The sites are not level and we needed to raise the driver side of the rig up 3" and the tongue of the trailer was raised 15" off of the hitch. I talked to someone who had a larger 5th wheel in this site, so it's doable but be aware. There are no hook-ups and no water or dump available. There are no obstructions so solar potential is great. Our phones had 1-2 bars of AT&T but our Pepwave and cellular antenna with AT&T had 4-5 bars. The nights were very quiet, close proximity to El Paso for needed items and all the hiking available within the park make this a great visit.

Stayed here in late July 2021. We reserved online and the check-in was quick and easy. Most sites are well spaced and have trees/shrubs between sites for nice privacy. After a day long rain, our site (79) had an issue with pooled water and other sites did too. Many non-electric sites have good solar potential. The bathhouse in our loop was clean and had 2 showers with plenty of hot water. There are several wineries and breweries nearby and the Town of Penn Yan is a short 15 minute drive.

The dump station is located near the propane filling station and can be used for $10.00. The issue for us was that with our 26ft trailer I couldn't get the trailer dump valves close enough to the sewer dump location without using our extension dump hose which I decided wasn't worth the extra effort. For a smaller trailer or without cars parked in the parking spaces adjacent to the area it's certainly a nice option.

The campground website says the owners of the property have sold the campground and there's no indication that it will reopen.
