Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on April 04, 2024This is a county park on the edge of town. It adjoins the high school athletic fields, so some afternoons and evenings you will be able to enjoy the local youth sports. It is obviously used for fairs and festivals. Parking is along the edges of the parking lots and roadways and is very level. There are electrical hookups (30a) but they were not operational for our stay. The water at each site was working, though. It is quiet and out of the way, but has easy paved access. Sign at the entrance with a lockbox requests $15 for overnight stay. Not sure this is to cover water and electric or also boondockers. Since we did not use any water or electric, we left $5 in the box for our visit.

After looking over the three parks in Iraan (all full with long term folks) we ended up here which was a blessing in disguise. Basically a fairgrounds perimeter fence with sometimes water and electricity although the electricity was off for our visit. Water was only available at one area but that was okay. We were the only ones here so running our Honda generator was not a problem. $15 seemed like a bargain when you factor in the dump station. There were no pay envelopes for the box so I just put the $15 in a regular envelope with my information printed on the front. That was on a Saturday evening, it’s a pretty long stretch to the next place so we were thrilled to find this place. Some noise as it is on the edge of town but nothing too bad.
Verizon cell was unusable. 4 bars but just getting hammered. Speed test was: Download 0.05 Mbps Upload 8.29 Mbps. No booster.

This nice little county park is a great place for rv travelers to spend a night or two. We were the only rv there but there is ample space for multiple rv's. Did not take the time to walk around the park but it looks like a great place to walk in a quiet setting and for kids to burn off energy. There are numerous pedestals for electric but I did not try them. My guess by appearance is the electric is not on. I didn't look to see where water iOS available but I sure somewhere in the park, but probably not hookup for each site. An earlier review showed a dump station available and again I did not need it nor did I seek the location out. Overall a great find and wish many other communities would offer similar spots for travelers.

Stayed here 1 night. Easy to find and very clean, safe and quiet. The electrical hookups seem to go around perimeters of park but were not working. We ran our generator for a few hours but weather was so nice that we shut it off for the evening. NO tv channels but had 4 bars with Verizon. Come prepared with food etc because there is only a Family Dollar in town that we could find.
Possibly in the summer it may be a little harder to park because they have several baseball fields and if kids have games it would be busier
We saw no signs or place to pay but since we dry camped we did not leave anything.
We hope for the future they put a sign and payment box so campers could leave a donation.
We would definitely stay here again.

Arrived on 1/14/2022. This is a good stop for the night. The parking is near the Community Center and ball fields with plenty of room for big rigs. We arrived around 4pm and were the only trailer for the night. We saw several people walking and running around the park area but vehicle traffic in the area was very limited. There are no hook-ups that were working but there is a dump station located at the end of N. Montana Ave. Nice quiet night. The posted fee is $15 but we didn't find a way to make a payment.

We arrived just before sunset and pulled up on the pavement near hookups. Perfectly level spot. Not sure if the electric was even on - as we did not need it. A nice county park with people out walking their dogs and using ball fields. After sunset, low traffic and noise. We had a peaceful nights sleep. As others stated - did not see any place to pay but we did not use hookups anyway so felt okay with that.

stopped in for a nights rest after reading a couple of reviews mentioning this safe public park. there was 1 big rig there when we arrived and i’m pretty sure he was plugged in. running water and electric all over the parking lot. ended up being 3 travelers for the night. the bathrooms, at the end of
Montana street close to the dump station, were locked.
we felt a little iffy driving in, but soon settled in for a nice restful night

We came out of our way after reading the reviews (grassy place for dog to run without stickers!). This is a peaceful community park in the town of Big Lake, nice spot to relax after driving across west Texas. There was construction being done on the softball field while we were there, fixing it up well, and there is a walking path with outdoor exercise equipment. Clean park and safe, seems popular with the community. We were the only campers. Sign saying charge is $15 a night, slot in the side of lockbox under sign. No one has checked and there were no payment envelopes so we just folded it in a piece of paper with our license number. Three open parking lots with electric and water hookups around the sides, dump station at rear of park.
