steam packet is a good spot when weather is good as it faces the water front and often see people exercising and walking the front with kids , dogs etc

The park is surrounded by civic buildings including the Geelong Town Hall, Geelong Art Gallery, Geelong Library, Geelong Law Courts, and the Geelong Railway Station. It is a nice walk along the river to some small waterfalls. Dont expect to find a great waterfall when you get there. These are very small waterfalls. The walk is the more exciting part .
This section of the river shows an interesting engineering feat in the channelling of the water to feed a (now removed) waterwheel that once powered the adjacent paper mills. The walking paths wind around beside the river, and offer a pleasant stroll. Recently, there has been some effort to give the old bluestone paper mill buildings a new lease of life, encouraging local art/craft vendors to utilise these amazing old buildings.
