Williamstown has many historical landmarks but this one is regularly overlooked by occasional visitors including me. I am quite impressed by the fact it has stood the test of time and still stands operational outside the visitor centre. It is a true Victorian piece of work and worth a look.

The Wilkinson Memorial Drinking Fountain is currently in the process of being restored to pristine condition. It';ds due for completion in April 2016, but it's nor there yet. From what I could see from peeking through the screen, it's quite impressive but it now seems some way from completion. Check how it going if you are in the area.

Truganina Park is a beautiful example. What used to be a tip is now 25 hectares of parkland with wooded areas, wetlands, walking and biking paths, BBQs, and some pretty good views.

The 100 steps lead to the highest point of land between Melbourne and the You Yangs. On a clear day there are some great views of the bay, the city, and the Cheetham Wetlands.

This is a really big park. Most of it is gently rolling hills and there's lots of room to fly kites, throw a frisbee, play games or just spread out a blanket and relax

The park's wetlands filter stormwater from the adjacent Altona Meadows residential area as well as providing habitat for birds and wildlife. Resident frogs provide a happy, throaty chorus of background music if you're there in the right season.
