This is a great stop. Everything is free and the bathrooms are clean. Easy in and out with a live Buffalo herd, pony rides, giant Buffalo for pictures and an old timey town.

This is a great overnight stop. The park has an old fort, museum, and Indian village to explore. These are well maintained and really interesting. There are some trails to hike and a good track for some dirt biking, and it is quiet and clean. The campsites however are a bit odd- like you just pulled over on the side of the road. I would not recommend the campground for more than a day for tent campers or for RVers looking for a wooded experience. Lots of togetherness with other campers. Deer wander up and through the campground at night which is nice.

Consider the type of camping you are seeking. The people are friendly, it is centrally located and there is lots to do at the campground. However the sites are very close with no space between and no trees or vegetation for privacy so you will be very much with your neighbors. This isn’t wooded. If you are looking for something more outdoorsy this is not for you. If you are looking for entertainment and location this is a great option. For more remote options check out Sully Creek or for a very private experience in the middle of the badlands try Cold Creek campground- tricky to find but remote.

The cabins are amazing, the staff could not be more friendly and the views are incredible . It is quite and peaceful and the kitchen has everything you need for a night in. It is very conveniently located. Dog friendly. They have a good selection of movies you can check out, and reliable wifi (a touch slow but totally manageable) However, housekeeping costs extra which was unexpected. Some of the amenities also have costs associated with them. If you know that going in, it helps.

No hiking required to experience the falls. Watch for the sign off rt 4, park and walk across the bridge to the falls. It is magnificent. If you want to hike, there are trails along the falls to other smaller waterfalls.
