we booked online, and they showed only the full hook up sites available. I did try to call and was unable to book by phone. When we arrived, the full hook up sites were on a gravel lot all in a row, no trees, picnic table was basically the only amenity. Surprisingly, about a third of the campground was empty. We went to ask for a site change, and I told them that I was told there were only two sites listes as available when I booked. I was able to move to a different site, but maintained the same rate we had booked. Very minimal shade, which I understand is an issue in this area of the country. However, it seemed kind of fishy that we were offered the most expensive campsite when there were many other ones available. The gentleman who is checking people in did not even say hello to anybody, was unfamiliar with the sites, and had a rather flat affect. Maybe it’s hard to get Staff in this area, I’m not sure. Anyway, if you want electricity, there are very few choices in this area as the national park does not have electric sites. We ended up staying in national park to avoid coming back to the campground other than to eat dinner and go to sleep.

Amenities include water, 50 Amp, Sewer. I could work while there using my verizon mifi. We used this campground as a stopover and because it was recommended by a fellow camper. He like the Medora Musical which was fun and the musical stage was outstanding...overlooking the badlands. The campground is close enough to town to walk, but the town is mostly tourist. We did find a wonderful book store and the cowboy cafe where we had great rhubarb pie. we tried the recommended buffet/pitchfork steak cookout and I would not do that again! I enjoyed the people who worked at the office and our neighbors, but not the campground itself.

The campground is nothing special, but the location is what keeps us coming back. The backdrop to the campground is a huge scenic rock wall next to the river. You can walk down to the river and wade in the mud of the Little Missouri, or just skip rocks from the shore.
You are close to the cute little town of Medora. Medora is a pseudo-western town on the edge of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The town walks that line between authentic and touristy, not quite deciding which it is. It has a number of decent restaurants, a small store, and some entertainment. Chief among the entertainment is the Medora Musical, a hokey, old-timey musical variety show that is so cheesy it's good.
There is an ice cream store in town, too.
All of this is walkable from the campground if you are in reasonable shape.
The real draw is that it is close to Theodore Roosevelt National Park, one of the hidden gems of the national park system.
So if you want gigantic spots and modern bathrooms, this is not the place for you. But if you want a cute little town and some great scenery, this will fit the bill.
This is a great campground to stay at if you want to visit the Theodore Rosevelt National Park. It’s literally 1 minute away from the entrance.
The place is rustic with dirt roads and rv spaces.
Toilets and lundry is clean.
People are usually very friendly (one guy was a bit rude in the morning... maybe he didn’t have his coffee)
You have direct access to the city pool and could get a spot with a view on the National Park.
The only problem is if you are there during the weekend in popular season.
The sites are really tight.
You can pretty much touch your neighbors RV and yours at the same time.
And the dirt roads, well... they lift a lot of dirt so you’ll get a lot inside your rv.
I also felt like people were driving 25-30mph in a 10mph zone.
No one really inforces the rules so a lot of drivers don’t care... seems like they are often parents too...
Overall it was a great place to be close to activities.
I would not stay here more than 3 days or expect to enjoy good evenings out of my trailer.
Wifi at the campground was good. 15mb down 6up.
Gets a little spotty on busy evenings.

We have a small squaredrop trailer so I booked a short site with 20amp service. It turned out to be sloped and very narrow. We put off using our 8' awning because it would have reached the edge of the next site. The facilities were pretty good and the staff we meet were nice but there is no privacy here with how crowded the sites are.

If you go camping so you can spend the days at the campground, don’t stay here. The sites are right on top of each other. We actually had to ask our neighbors to move their picnic table further into their tiny site just so we could get our slide out, and our sewer was right in the middle of their site.
But, if like us, you use the camper more like a hotel - a place to sleep and unwind, but not spend much time, it’s great. It’s walking distance to everything. The property is gorgeous, nestled among the buttes, along the river. The sites are tiny, but we don’t need a big yard.

We’ve stayed here several times, and it’s always good enough for our purposes. Yes, the sites are super small and campers can feel crammed on top of each other. But if you’re spending your day in Theodore Roosevelt National Park and just using this as a base camp, it should be fine.
Many people use this as an overnight stopping point while crossing the Dakotas, and it works well for that, too, as it has easy access to I-94.
Bathrooms are decent. Some ok amenities, but again, the real benefit of this park is its proximity to the entrance of TRNP, which is probably a half mile from the campground.
The only issue we’ve ever had here is we booked our vacation with another family and called twice to confirm that we were reserved in spots next to each other. Both calls confirmed we were and of course when we arrived, we were two rows apart from each other. The camp office blamed it on the reservation staff (the city of Medora and local hotel) which books over the phone and “doesn’t know how things work here at the campground.” Be diligent about that if it’s important to you.
All in all, would recommend this campground.

Stayed here based on previous review. Although the distance isn’t far to the musical, it is not walkable like they said! No shuttles due to covid, either. So we checked in & drove our rv to the musical so our dog could be let out between dinner & show.
The site served its purpose for sleeping, showers were spacious & ok.

Access is good. Check-in is good. Location/access to Teddy Roosevelt NP and Enchanted Hwy and other Medora attractions is good. In 95+ degree heat, 50A service was solid. No brownouts or tripped breakers.
Yes, we would camp here again but would be very selective on our site. We had 142 which is a pull-thru FHU. The sites are TIGHT!!! Out of basic human courtesy to my neighbors I did not connect my dump hose until the very last minute. For the same reason, we chose not to sit outside our site at all. The image I am attaching says it all. My dump connection in relation to our neighbors picnic table. If we return we will call and ask 1st about site selection/availability.
