A totally rad drive, if you're lucky, and if you're a passenger, you might see dolphin.
I wasn't able to grab a tour, but I was able to see it from the gates. It was a pretty neat sight--surprisingly small, though. From where I was standing, I was able to the presidential garden. Pretty cool.
I stayed here a couple of years ago and it was a memorable experience. The lodge is right in the mountains. the view, air, and wildlife are all spectacular. There are plenty of dining options on site. There are also plenty of bars on site. It was here that I was introduced to Ska brewing. If you get the chance, try the modus hoperandi--you won't regret it. There is a frisbee gold course on site, too. A lot of fun. if you're feeling adventurous, climb to the top of the mountain. You will have to leave the trail, but the view and serenity are totally worth it. Be warned: I saw bear tracks.
I totally recommend this museum. Initially, I thought the price to be a little steep, but as soon as I watched the orientation film, I knew I was in for a treat. Like the Holocaust Memorial Museum, there are attractions inside that serve as sobering reminders of of the past, and like the Holocaust Memorial Museum, you can spend all day learning here.
The best museum in DC, hands down. The artifacts, the displays, and the overall layout is impressive. Another plus is that it doesn't seem to get overly crowded, which is nice, as you can really take your time to peruse the exhibits. What I like, too, is that they focused on the whole americas, rather than just North America. I can't recommend this place enough.
I enjoyed this place; however, I wouldn't try their fish selection for the obvious reason that we are so far from the coast (about 9 hours, I think). That said, I enjoyed the oysters (yes, I am aware of the irony). They also make a pretty mean old fashioned. I think the pear bitters are a great touch.
I know this is one of the top attractions in DC, but I honestly wasn't that impressed. To be sure, this would be a great place to take younger kids, and is probably a completely different experience when less crowded.
I've been on a handful of occasions and have always been underwhelmed. The service is great, though.
This place does serve good beer, but the clientele is obnoxious. With the closing of Fries Cafe, I'm sure a lot of people will go here, but given the choice, I'd take Fries any day.
If this place has the best meatballs, then I would hate to try the worst meatballs in Cincinnati.
