I took my Dad on a road trip to Nebraska once to convince him that he didn't win the lottery. Though I was correct, we grew as a family.

This place is a hidden gem. I visited today and picked winesap apples. Picking is easy: you drive a minute or two to the actual orchard, talk to the attendant who supplies you with a picking bag (two sizes: a $12 or $20 bag), park your car, and pick apples. After picking, you exit the orchard lot and pay for your collection.

I recommend going to the market (pictured above). Here, you can buy products from the farm. I bought honey apple butter and goldrush apple cider. The cider was one of the best ciders I have ever tasted. I also saw people eating fresh baked goods from some the various venders inside the market. If you have children, then you may also want to visit the corn maze.

I can't say a lot about their rooms, though I was able to see the room that is reportedly haunted and it looked comfortable enough. What I can say something about is the food: delicious brunch.

I haven't been in awhile, but Flint Ridge is a lot like Blackhand Gorge: quiet and understated. Hey, you can usually find flint, too, and finders keepers!

Blackhand Gorge is awesome. The best part about it is that it is usually pretty quiet--most of the traffic goes to Dillon.

I've visited this aquarium a number of times and am always impressed by the size, diverse specimens, and the general layout. If you have young kids with inquisitive minds, they will find much to enjoy here.

Clearwater Beach is quite beautiful, crystal clean, and laid back. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're in Tampa. Furthermore, I visited Clearwater during the "busy season" and had no trouble finding a parking spot--a rare occasion during the busy season.

Bourbon Street is great--especially while enjoying a Sazerac or an Absinthe Drip from the Old Absinthe House. Expect it to be crowed, and I mean perpetually crowded. Also, dress cool. While I was there in March, the weather was in the 60s, but because of how enclosed the street is, it felt much, much hotter. And though Bourbon Street is a must visit for those experiencing New Orleans for the first time, it is incredibly touristy. So after you take in your fill of the nightlife, check out streets like Frenchman--a less crowded, eclectic hotspot.

I'm always reminded of the last lines in Cormac McCarthy's 2006 novel "The Road" when visiting this place:

"Once there were brook trouts in the streams in the mountains. You could see them standing in the amber current where the white edges of their fins wimpled softly in the flow. They smelled of moss in your hand. Polished and muscular and torsional. On their backs were vermiculate patterns that were maps of the world in its becoming. Maps and mazes. Of a thing which could not be put back. Not be made right again. In the deep glens where they lived all things were older than man and they hummed of mystery."

Such a beautiful, surreal place.

I really can't stand the Y-Bridge. As a Zanesville native, driving across this eyesore was enough of a pain-in-the-ass to merit not liking it. But Brown, there are only two, surely you can appreciate its novelty. No, I can't, The only reason there are only two such bridges attests to its impractical design.

Sanibel Island Beach is beautiful. If you are driving here during the busy season, you might as well stay home; it gets extremely busy. However, if you drive here during the summer, you can still expect to have some difficulty obtaining a parking spot, but it is totally worth the trouble.
