We used to go to this place every October with my in-laws back in the early 80's when it was basically just starting tours, only had the house & Streets of Yesterday back then. Was cool to see it progress over the years. In-laws have passed on, haven't been back in years, but someday would like to go back and see how it has grown. Used to love seeing the house & my boys loved the place. If you like cool, weird & bizarre, this is a great place to go, but LOTS of walking! Take small bills or change for the calliopes & machines, food I think is pricey, its difficult to take good photos sometimes (it is dark), but in the fall, views are amazing from infinity room & decks, and the drive there is picturesque. Never stayed at the hotel, it was a (long) day trip for us.

Grist Mill is a great place to stop, but also check out the Muscatine Pearl Button Museum, located at the History & Industry Center in downtown Muscatine...Terry Eagle gives a fantastic tour about the "Gold Rush of the Midwest" the pearl Button industry in the midwest!

We visited in July 2017. Very nice visitor's center, and pretty views from their boardwalk. We saw quite a few shorebirds, and the park attendant was very helpful. It is a short drive back to the building, but definitely worth the drive if you like wildlife. Pick up a Blue Goose Passport, makes it an adventure seeking out Wildlife refuges!

it was beautiful the day we were there, July 2017, & we got many great shots of the lighthouse. I have been to many, but never saw one in the middle of the highway before! Worth a stop, and the visitors center across the street had some useful information and great artwork displayed. Would definitely recommend, and there's a nice park across the street from the center.

Beautiful drive, especially if you have a motorcycle! We did it in a car unfortunately, still beautiful, looks like pages from a log home magazine! Take it slow & enjoy the view!
