“Built in 1848”
Pine Creek Grist Mill was built in 1848 by Benjamin Nye, Muscatine County's first settler. The Mill is located in Wldcat den State Park, along the banks of Pine Creek and 1/2 mile from the Mississippi. It seems to be one of the 2 oldest working grist mills between the Mississippi and the Rockies (still on its original site).
Reviews
We only got to see the outside and still it was worth the stop.
Grist Mill is a great place to stop, but also check out the Muscatine Pearl Button Museum, located at the History & Industry Center in downtown Muscatine...Terry Eagle gives a fantastic tour about the "Gold Rush of the Midwest" the pearl Button industry in the midwest!
