There isnt much to it and isnt a huge area but we were able to find a nice spot with a beautiful view of the mountains. Pretty quiet and no one bothered us. Plus can't beat FREE! Stick to the very first dirt road turn off as it is the easiest way in and out. Our spot was toward the very back and there was a dirt road behind us going N to S. We took it out once and only once because it was a rough road. Not too horrible in our jeep but definitely wouldnt take your trailer through it. This place is relatively close to White Sands National Park and definitely recommend checking out Pistachioland which isn't too far from here.

This is a very open spacious campground. Not very crowded at all when we were there and everyone kept to themselves. We stayed here for about a week and really enjoyed it. Only about 20min from the small town of Carlsbad which was perfect for us to run into town to grab groceries and things we needed. Also close to two National Parks. Carlsbad Caverns & Guadalupe Mountains National Park. We visisted both while we were here and both parks were amazing. Had great cell service as well at this spot. Plus can't beat FREE!!!

We originally were going to stay down the road at another spot but there were so many people and we had a crazy neighbor so we drove up here and found a spot. The road is a little rough on the turn in unless you stay to the left of the sign but we were able to find a spot with no one around. It was very peaceful and quiet. [Might be different on a weekend. It is an OHV area] Beautiful view of the sunset and mountain behind us. Keep an eye out as your driving or you will miss it. On your right there is a fenced area before it as you drive on the main hard dirt packed road then a small turn in with a wooden sign or you could go down a bit further to the power line entrance. About 20 min to downtown Santa Fe which was great to be that close.

This place was great! Lots of space to turn around with our 31ft trailer. Dump station was easy access toward the back by the rv/truck pumps just no tank flush. Water spigot is located in between the truck gas pumps. Make sure to pull the metal ring piece underneath before turning on the water or you will get a shower. Once that is pulled down water flows great through your hose. Only downside was their gas pumps [diesal was fine] were currently not working and bagged off so no gas but still happy with this place!

Free dump station and dumpster. Big enough space to fit our 31ft trailer in no problem.

It seems like it would have been a really great area with lots of spots but for us there was just a ton of people. Although that wasn't the bad part. The people we happend to park across from on the dirt road you can tell have been living out there for quite awhile. They were very irresponsible with their dogs running around off leash so we couldnt let our dogs out, like to be loud and scream at eachother to the point of the guy being locked out of his trailer and he is banging on the door around 1am to get back in. Oh and just after dark he was yelling at people trying to come into camp because it was "late". Literally did not feel safe and didnt sleep at all. The next morning we moved over to the Santa Fe Ranch recreation area that you pass on your way in and it was great! Way more peaceful and quiet and no one around.

I guess overall just be mindful of who you park next to!! Also tip if you do stay here, after the cattle guard turn left. That road is way smoother and easier to access. If you go back further in there tends to be more spots too.

Perfect spot to dump your tanks and fill your water on your way in or out of Los Alamos. Easy access and best part is its FREE!

This place was great! A little mom and pop place if you will. I called a few places around town and they refused us due to our dogs who happen to be pitbulls but this place had no problem at all! They had a little dog park and even gave us a spot with a little grass area next to us for them. The staff was so friendly and it blew me away that they escorted and helped us into our spot. They are all pull through spots unless you are staying monthly. Laundry room and bath house were decent. They even have a clubhouse where you can play pool, ping pong, cornhole and so many other games. They also except good sams which will give you a 10% discount on your nightly rate which already wasnt too bad. We only stayed here for 2 nights as a pit stop on the way to our next destination but definitely would have stayed longer! We felt at home being here and like part of the family. Super close to all of the main attractions in this fun quirky little alien town too.

Overall this was a very nice peaceful spot to stay up in the mountains. We saw coyotes and deer near our spot. We didn't go too far in and parked near the entrance with our 31ft trailer. If you have a smaller vehicle or trailer you can take the road further in to find a spot but beware the road is a bit bumpy. Also! The road coming up the mountain in from Los Alamos/white rock area was steep and can be a little sketchy with tight turns. It was definitely scary going up it at dusk [not intentional] but we made it!!! Also be mindful of the elevation gain. You are at almost 8100ft. We started having issues with our truck and even our RV fridge being that high up. I'd recommend checking out the city and history of Los Alamos, Bandelier Monument and Valles Caldera national Preserve which is all near by.

Location was great as you are right outside the south entrance to the Petrified Forest NP which is exactly why we were here. We found a spot with a picnic table right up front but they had a whole other back lot with open space to park in. At first we thought it was completely blocked off since there was petrified wood stumps blocking the entry to it but then later realized there was an entrance all the way in the back by the fence that you could squeeze through. Overall great experience. We took the advice of other reviews and did not run our generator especially with our neighbors being so close but if that's an issue you can pay for electricity hook up across the street at the other campground. Can't beat FREE though and there was a dumpster near the side of the gift shop you can use. Make sure to stop in at the gift shop to see the nice ladies who work there and get some goodies! Only complaint was the cell service. We have Tmobile. It was very hit and miss [3G/ 4G - 1 bar] or non existence at times.
