We were in town for a wedding on a holiday weekend so there weren't too many options. This place is OK. The spots were tight for RVs. They had a pool but it looked a little green. The area is pretty with a stream running in the back. Lots of trees.

A great find thanks to Campendium. We really enjoyed our stay here. The first few nights we had our section all to ourselves. The weekend brought a few more campers but still not bad for an August weekend.

Right on the river and free except for Discovery Pass (no one was checking for it). We enjoyed hikes to the nearby waterfalls, hanging out by the river, and mountain biking. We would definitely go back and spend more time. Even 90 degree days cooled off nice at night. No Verizon, ATT, and Sprint coverage. Took a ride up Falls Creek Road to a ridge for our Internet fix (Verizon).

We stayed overnight here during the week close to the aqueduct pipes. Besides a little noise from target shooting early in the evening it was quiet. A good place to overnight in the desert and close to the highway but not too close. I wouldn't want to be here on a weekend with the noise from off-roaders.

This is a clean park and offers an Escapee discount but you have to be careful of the rules. If you have a dog you can only stay in a small part of the park and you can't walk them past the restricted area.

We enjoyed our stay here and visit to the park. It's a little run down side like a lot of the National Park campgrounds run by government contractors.

The views here of the mountains and valley are pretty spectacular. At $8 per day this is a bargain even in winter when they turn off the water and close the dump station. Our 36 foot RV fit nicely into our site which was a little unlevel but nothing a few blocks couldn't handle. The sites are well spaced out so even on an almost full weekend it didn't feel too crowded.

The speed bumps coming in require an almost full stop.

Edit - Second time back here and I've bumped the review up to 5 stars. This is one of the nicest government managed campgrounds we have stayed in. So much to do in this area.

I have many great memories of camping here with my family. The area is really beautiful. In the past you could drive an RV right up to a boondocking spot on the river but unfortunately those spots are now closed. There are still spots in the area but in the campground itself the Forest Service has added posts to restrict access. Only a few spots are now suitable for RVs due to the posts.

If you do choose to come here be aware that the dirt road is fairly rutted and mixed with red cinders.

No cell service on AT&T and Verizon.

My wife and I have stayed here a couple of times in a tent and RV. The spots closer to highway 101 are a little louder. The beach and rock formations here are great to explore. The park is well taken care of and clean. Summer can be hard to get a spot.

Update -
Enjoyed another great stay here in our RV. Park is still very clean and well maintained.

This is a good alternative to Yuma but I think we are only so, so on it. Seems a bit windy and dusty at times. Good Internet. Not the most scenic place we have stayed. Would we camp here again? Is there a maybe checkbox?

We really enjoyed our almost two weeks out here. The views, stargazing, wildlife, hiking, jeeping, and camping were amazing. We even got a great over air HD TV signal to watch the Super Bowl. As others have mentioned this is close to Quartzsite but a world away.

We parked a little outside of the refuge and had a great spot close to a wash with some small trees. I hiked to the very top of Signal Peak at almost 5,000' and will post some more details on my blog. Pretty good gravel road here and dust stayed away with a South wind.
