We were looking for a spot on a busy Labor Day weekend near the North branch of Theodore Roosevelt national Park. This beautiful campsite overlooks the badlands near Little Missouri State Park. Twila is a gracious host. The gravel road in is a bit rough and somewhat confusing so you’ll need emailed directions from the camp host because GPS will not get you there. The campground has full hook ups but we chose one that was electric only (30A) with a spectacular view into the canyon. Very quiet; lots of space. The shower and bath were the best we’ve experienced in more than a month on the road.

We pulled in, attracted by the location and Campendium’s reported $22 fee. The campground seems nice and the on-site manager was very friendly and professional, but she explained that the above price is for Passport America members and that non-members pay double. We decided not to stay. We’ll research P.A. when we have time.

We stayed 4 nights. Easy 15-minute walk to the beach. Short drive to Sanibel shops, beaches, Captiva Island. It’s a fun spot to RV camp, with two caveats: 1. The no-see-ums eat you alive just after sunset (October). 2. They have no WiFi and our cell carrier, Sprint, has one bar, which is useless. We met up with friends who had good data connection via AT&T.

Beautiful terrain and scenery, fun for kids, good hiking, clean showers, we saw some sites that were quite steep, though ours was fairly level. Watch for poison ivy at camp sites and on trails.

This campground near the south entrance to Theodore Roosevelt national Park has electrical for sewer and city water very close to your unit. The campground is very small and they cram as many vehicles in as they can. You will not have room for much of anything outside your unit such as camp chairs or a grill. No campfires. It is very close to the Mah-Dah-Hey Trail and a 30 minute hike to the left on that trail will reward you with a spectacular view of the Little Missouri River Valley.
