This “campground” is a beautiful park right in town surrounded on three sides by the Tongue River. $21 overnight for non-residents. It has mature trees, a playground and thick green grass, picnic tables and fire rings. We saw many deer in the adjacent field in the morning. There is also a monument explaining the importance of the battle.
We showed up in the spring before they were fully opened. The owner found a spot for us and was super accommodating!

Easy to find using the directions posted. It was very windy and we weren’t able to park our rig into the wind and stay on the concrete pad. The pad was perfectly level, which was nice.
This place is a gem. Four miles out of town and away from the active railroad noise. Right near the reservoir. $15 dry camp fee at the self-pay station. Quiet and scenic.
This was a nice little hike with some great views. The petroglyphs were everywhere and easy to spot from the trail. The rangers were two of the nicest people we’ve met on our trip.
Very nice people in service. We couldn’t get an oil change, but they let us get water. We were grateful for that.
NM State rest stop on paved loop off of the main road. Four covered picnic tables with trash receptacles in large concrete area. Flat and quiet for our truck camper. Not much traffic at all.
This was a great stop before we headed into Big Bend. Was able to cool off with AC, do some laundry and get water. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. This park was very clean, flat white gravel roadway, wide open spots with white fences in between sites and a dog park. The manager was friendly and knowledgeable about the Big Bend Open Road Race. We were too early for that this year.

Almost missed this stop because we never saw a rest area sign. There aren’t any facilities. I was grateful for a chance to stretch and walk our dog. There were several trash cans, but unfortunately all were overflowing.
Stopped here to get propane. Their site claimed to have the best price around. The manager was very personable and the price was good. Glad we found this RV park.
