This was the 2nd year that we have been to Jelllystone Park at Natural Bridge. Last fall we went during the Halloween season and the activities were geared around the holiday. Lots of other campers had their site decked out with the Halloween theme. The kids had a great time trick-or-treating and participating in the other games, activities and dance.
This year we went in the early summer and the water venues were open. Everyone loved the pool, lake and water slides. We even rafted down the James River one day. It runs right by the campground.
One note: this is not a quiet, laid back camping experience. There is something happening all the time here. We found it to be a great place for multi-generational gatherings because of all the things to do.

We spent a few nights here while visiting family and helping at Missionary Flights International (they and the airport are very close). The RV park was well maintained with lots of activities for anyone that wanted to stay busy. We didn't get to do much there but we did eat at the restaurant, Coyote Grill, which was very good. Campground is about 3 -4 miles from the beach and maybe 10 miles to Vero Beach.
Since we have a small vintage camper bathhouses are important to us. The facilities here were clean and had several showers so we never had to wait. It was kind of chilly while we were there so we were pleased that the bathhouses were heated.
As seems to be the norm now, connecting to the internet thru WiFi was poor at best. Usually non-existent.

This is our 4th time staying here. The location is perfect for beach goers and for those who want to visit St. Augustine.

Spent the weekend here and enjoyed a peaceful time on the shores of the James River. This state park campground is easily accessible from Richmond (less than an hour). It's on the south shore of the James River which is a very rural area. It's tie to colonial history is the plantation house that's open for touring most days. There is also a farm tools and history museum.
The campground itself is divided up into section A & B. Section A is more wooded and suited for smaller campers and tents. Section B has more asphalt and less wooded. The sites seem to be larger in B.
Since we were only there for a weekend we didn't get to use many of the park amenities but there's a large pool, several playgrounds, visitor center and the James River, which has a lot of beach area.
About 10 minutes drive away there is a car ferry (free) that will transport you across the river to the Jamestown & Williamsburg area. It adds a lot of options to any time you spend at Chippokes SP.
The staff there, especially the interpretive guides, were always helpful and informative. We will definately be back.

We finally had a weekend with nothing scheduled so we made the 20 minute trip to Pocahontas SP. Check in was quick and easy.

You can not reserve a specific site here so we rode thru the campground to see where we wanted to stay this time. Most sites are well shaded but since we knew it was going to be cold this weekend we picked one that was mostly open so we could get a little sun during the day. It was a good plan but when the rains started on Saturday morning and lasted all weekend site selection doesn't really matter. Most sites are well maintained gravel with an area for picnic table and fire ring. There are a few asphalt, pull thru sites that cost the same but need to be reserved separately.

A note on fires and firewood - Don't bring your own wood. Due to some problems with hitchhiking bugs the state parks do not allow you to bring your own firewood. They do have wood to buy but it's pretty steep; $5 for 6 pieces of firewood. Also during the spring there is a daytime burning ban due to the fire danger. I think campfires could burn from 4pm to midnight.

Lots of hiking, bike and horseback riding (bring your own horse) trails here for all skill levels. We biked a couple and hiked a couple before the rains set in for the weekend. After that, lots of quality trailer time plus a shopping trip. There's a lake and a river here so fishing, kayaking or canoeing are also options.

Campground was about half full but, because of the weather, we didn't get to see many people out of their campers. There were 3 large playgrounds that looked fun and were busy when it wasn't raining. Plenty of places to walk your pets but no dog run here.
