We stayed 7 days and worked from AT&T as it had the best signal with lowest latency, Verizon was also good.

This is basically a big dirt lot with some designate camp spots, but if those are full there is plant of room to still park rigs.

It really close to the park entrance, and in the distance you can see the visitor center where the entrance to the cavern is located.

Overall this location serves the purpose, and if I find myself in this area again I would use this as home base.

This location is within the park so you will need a pass. Dump is free, it’s very clean, and there is water.

Spent a night here as a stop over on the way south. This is a quick off the hwy location for any size rig in a large parking lot. They have a campground on premise, but that is for more than one night, so don’t be thrown off by that, one night stops are no problem. I’ll use this again.

We stumbled across Willard Peak Campground after experiencing a catastrophic breakdown on the way down I-84. We were lucky enough to get safely settled and were treated so well while we waited for parts and performed repairs. It’s a clean park, very well run and we’d stay here again. The surrounding area is beautiful and worthy of exploring!

This is a very small BLM campground. It is $15/night but if you have an America the Beautiful pass it's is 1/2 price. Or you can buy an annual pass for $75 and it allows camping on the fee paid BLM lands in this area for a year.

AT&T has good signal with between 20-30 mbps down, but it tends to suddenly stop working for several minutes at a time. So if you're like me, and you need it for your job, it can be a challenge!

The camping area sits directly on the Colorado river with nice views. There is a boat launch. There is nothing else around the area so be prepared to bring everything you need or plan to drive about 30 minutes for any supplies.

When we were here they were working on the levy nearby so during the day it was very noisy during the day.

Also the test range, proving grounds, is close by so don't be surprised if in the middle of the evening the ground suddenly shakes violently, you hear a very loud boom, and a jet flies overhead. This happened to us and what we learned is they were testing bomb drops several miles away. In fact, the second day we were here we spotted a couple jets with bombs attached flying over head and a few minutes later we heard the booms!

For visiting Yellowstone it is hard to beat this location. It is about twenty miles to West Yellowstone but this keeps traffic down. We did not consider this a problem and made the trip to the park several times.

From Hwy 20 You will turn toward the west at the sign to Henry’s Lake access. It’s a small sign right where the passing lane ends.

There are multiple areas along the road to Henry’s lake access which are excellent for boondocking.

The first is immediately when you turn off Hwy 20 onto Red Rock road. You will see, on the right side, Boot Jack road which has a significant amount of boondocking space. This is close to Hwy 20 but still has nice spots in the trees. This area is perfect for large rigs with no difficulties accessing it.

As you proceed down Red Rock road, up to six miles, you will pass multiple very large and quality areas in the trees along the left side (south) of the road to camp. This road is two lane paved with limited traffic, therefore, there should be little traffic noise. You can easily get the very largest rigs here.

If you continue further down Red Rock road, up to six miles and well paved, you will come to a private campground, Red Rock campground, on the right side of the road. Slow down here because as soon as you reach the end of the campground fence you will take a right turn down Henry’s Lake access road. This road is dirt, a bit bumpy, however, I tow a 40’ fifth wheel and it was no problem. There are washboards, but no ruts or anything that would permit anyone going down the road. The total length is about 3/4 mile long.

By the way, locals also refer to this area as “the cliffs”.

As you come down the road you will reach a left corner where the road will split off to the right, this will be obvious, and if you have a large rig do not go that way stay on the main road. We did see class C and vans in there, but if your towing I would avoid this area. Rather, proceed to the right and down the hill which will take you to the boat ramp. Once at the boat ramp veer to the left and the boondocking area is along this section of road. I recommend you definitely park at the boat ramp area and scout first because turning around is a challenge and many people just backed out the short distance.

When we were there several very large rigs came and left.

During the fourteen days we stayed we saw as many as twelve rigs consecutive in the area, and it was a bit crowded. Yes, we did not have a great deal of space between rigs, but, this area is right along the shore of Henry’s lake so what can you expect? The bonus, we had about twenty feet to the shoreline.

If you fish this lake is full of decent sized trout, eighteen plus length is common, and the local fly shop which is only a few hundred yards south down Hwy 20 can set you up. We did some fly fishing with great success.

Verizon is a solid 30 mbps down and 16 up, and AT&T is also good at 10 mbps. I used Verizon.

Free dump and water is about 10 miles south down Hwy 20.

If you can go off grid then this entire area is a great choice for a visit to Yellowstone.

We stayed one night in the RV/truck lot. It was quiet and I would drop in here again if going through the area.

When we’re heading out boondocking one of the biggest challenges we have is finding water near the place we’re going, so a tip for this location is if you go up the east route the Cameron Trading Post campground will sell you water. I called them ahead of time and they said sure, $5.00 to fill up with a no gallon limit. If you go up the west side out of Williams the alternative for potable water is the Mather campground dump station which is located in the park near the Village.

Once you make the turn on to the road, the first 1/2 mile of the road is in the park and it’s the worst part. Once you pass the cattle guard into the National forest the road improves significantly and towing a large rig, we’re a 40’ 5th wheel at 13’ 6” tall, is slow, but easy. After you pass the cattle guard there is tons of space to camp out among the trees.

We arrived on a Saturday, and while it was busy, finding a quality place to call home for two weeks was easy. Come Sunday afternoon the place was empty!

Cell signal here was strong on Verizon, Speedtest.net measured 30 down and 20 up. AT&T was nonexistent for us.

Overall this place is great, it is only a very short distance to Grandview, and about 20 minutes to the Village. Love it!

This park is really quite nice for retired folks. The park is quiet, and well maintained, but despite being right next to the freeway, the cell connectivity for both AT&T and Verizon is unbearable. The most we can see is 2 bars, but this barely allows for anything more than a phone call. The latency is horrific! After realizing we were having issues, we paid a $50 deposit for a cable modem, but the level of service purchased by the park from Spectrum is no better than using what little cellular service is available. Not sure how the folks that live full time here can function. I don't know what is going on, but since we work full-time from the road, I would not recommend this area unless you are retired or on vacation.

It’s a nice park, very clean, well run, but it’s your typical RV parking lot style camping. If you’re going here to access Joshua Tree it’s a good hub for that purpose, especially if you have kids. Be aware it takes about 40 minutes to reach the entrance of the park.

The problem we had here was the WIND! It whips up through canyon and can be brutal. The guy over the hedge from us had his pop up shelter go over the 5’ hedge in the middle of the night hitting our neighbor’s RV. We are a 40’ 5th wheel and we were rocking!

The cell signal here, especially for a stable data connection, was only in the 3mbps range for both AT&T and Verizon.

However, this park has the best WiFi I’ve ever experienced in a park. We work full time from our RV, requiring a stable VPN connection back to the office, and the WiFi was what worked best versus AT&T or Verizon. Even on Saturday, when the park was full, the performance for YouTube was adequate, but with reduced quality and a medium amount of caching.
