AWESOME PLACE!!
MUST SEE IF NEAR OR DRIVING THROUGH!!
The Museum is free, the park costs $5 per person, or if Active Military /spouse, you get up to 4 passengers in for Free. Must show valid ID! & They gave me a National Annual Park Pass for free (active military/spouse)! So if your not familiar with it, (like myself) ask for it. :D GREAT BONUS & ALSO VALID FOR 1 YEAR!!
The White Sands, AZ is not actually "sand" at all, it's actually called "gypsum" which is what drywall is made of. Pretty neat. It's a rare place. The "sand" is so fine, and cool to the touch, even with the sun beating down on it. The deeper you sink, the colder it gets. Which feels amazing in the hot sun.
But because it's such a fine texture, I would recommend bringing a spare set of clothes and shoes. & a pop up shower! :P xD
Don't try sliding down with a cardboard box. It doesn't work. LOL the museum has sleds for sale, that have waxy bottoms, (it works....I think) we didn't stay for long, so we didn't purchase them. But they sure do look fun.
Pets are ALLOWED, but must be kept on a leash.
Anyway, must see, must play, must have fun.

Great place! :D a tad bit difficult to find, but once there, not so bad parking. We drove a trailer so he prepared to have to circle a lot lol :P
Good rates and Active Military /spouse discount! :D Nice people, clean rooms. Pets allowed! :D
Great place if needing to catch up on sleep or passing through.

My dad and I stayed here for 3 nights in a row, and loved every bit of it. Scotts Valley, CA is not a touristy town. Which was fantastic. Especially when just passing through. It's also not far from anything. :)
We stayed in a two queen, non smoking, pets allowed, room. Everything was nice, clean and smelled great! :) Complimentary breakfast! & if your Active Military /spouse you can get a discount. Which is fantastic as well. We got a really nice room, for just under $100!!
The people that work their are super nice! :D
So if you're looking for a place to just catch on sleep, passing through or need a great clean room for just under $100, this is the place for you!
Give me a call! :D ♡

I live in Sherman TX, and trust me there is nothing to see. It's on private property, and you won't be able to access it from any direction. There is "No Trespassing" signs posted everywhere.
Not worth the trip to see.

Well...the road to the visiting center is quite confusing!
The road is shared with the factory on Boron Rd, and the signs are quite hard to follow. Up the road you will see that the speed limit drops to "37 1/2 mph".
When you reach the small office to your left, the sign will take you up a hill, which then you will want to drop your speed to "23 mph".
Once you reach the visiting center, there is the 'twenty-mule team' horse/mule carriage. Then the '190 ton-mining truck tire'. It's a cool photo-op.
If it's the right time of day, the tire makes a really cool shadow silhouette!
Inside the visiting center is a museum, FREE Admission & open 9am-5pm.
The vc overlooks the mine. Which is pretty impressive.
So all in all...it was cool to see the mine and the tire..other than that..not all that great. So if your looking for more of a short drive and a place to stretch, that's the place for you.
