What a nice time at the Red Fox!

Arrived around 2:30 PM. The casino is as tiny as everyone mentioned before with probably three dozen slot machines and that's it. Tiny cafe in the back that never seemed to have anyone there - possibly because TJ's Indian Tacos have moved off of 101. The security podium is to the right when you entered and they had us sign a form and copied out drivers license. Confirmed there is no set time to leave and we could stay up to 3 days! Not necessary because we had other plans but very nice to know.

The lot was mostly empty and the casino hours of 12-9 PM meant everyone cleared out. it was remarkably quiet at night. Because of some construction at the trial rec space adjacent to the casino there was some noise during the day but no worse than you would have at any campground.

Oh yes - and we did end up playing the casino. Went in with $30 and left with about $60 so in the end it was a very productive night. Looking at the past reviews - I think the road has been redone in the past few years through there is a bridge coming in from Laytonville with a 30 ton limit. As for the 'sketchiness' - it's rural CA with a tribal community that is doing its best. I'll leave my comments at that.

In any case had a great time and if I am in the area again I will happily camp here again.

Arrived at 4 on a Friday. One campsite was occupied so took spot #1 closest to the front. By 6 PM all three spots were taken. Ranger came by to take the $12 deposit and was helpful enough to give us details on the park and guide us to add an additional ticket to our unattached sedan so that they knew it was paid. There was a little bit of road noise but it wasn't a big deal.

We did have a bit of a surprise as a line of cars stared to form just outside of our spot starting at 6 AM. Turns out this is a very big fishing spot and there was a line all the way past the entrance to get in. They mostly kept quiet but we could hear some talking with the windows open. At 8 they all flooded into the park and we were left in peace.

There is a porta potty nearby and a camp grill and picnic table at each spot. Ground is sloped a little but didn't bother us.

The park donation sheet shows check out time as noon but the ranger emphasized it was 9 AM. They did say that we don't have to leave the park and can merely pull out of the enroute campsites and park along the road. Camping is only allowed for one night.

Overall I'd say it was a good experience for a really pretty spot and a cheep place to camp in the SF Bay area.

Really nice place for a stay in winter time. Road is pretty rocky but our sedan was able to make it in without too much difficulty and the sites start not far from the road. We did get flies but they only were about a dozen - I was expecting just a swarm to live in our bus but I would label it annoying but not bad. Sunsets and scenery was so pretty and far enough away from the interstate that you got basically no noise.

My wife spent her whole life passing by South of the Border, so we made a once in a lifetime stop here. Place is an alright one day stop with a really good reptile exhibit.

In terms of campground, the spots are paved and level. A little issue with limb overhang in our spot 111 that had them brush to our solar but not an issue. Gated. Was annoyed by some late night barking but not sure if that was other RVers or from a nearby business.

I consider this a fair one day stop if traveling I95

Ended up here on our way to New Mexico. Friendly and easy to access. There are train tracks relatively close that you can hear but only once during the day did they blow their horn. Didn't use the facilities but their common area has board games, coffee, and your usual small shop. Site was level gravel.

Needed a spot with full hookups and spots closer to Columbia were booked. Had an open spot and took it at the lower campground. Easy to get in and level but ground is just covered in dog crap. Lots of long term residents and the only nice feature of the area, the pond, is drained and just an eyesore. Area was quiet. Here's to hoping it turns around.

Price was $35 which was high but not unreasonable. Only would stay here passing through for the night.
