Quiet parking lot for people traveling through. Must check in with casino staff. They were kind.
Came in around 11:30pm and went inside and filled out a waiver. They are open from 10am to 12am- so you need to arrive before then.
The lot had no other RVs and there were only about a dozen cars since they were closing in 30 minutes. After that- there was no in the lot and it was dead quiet.
They were very nice about it all. The roads were paved, but pretty rough on the way in. Gravel lot- no amenities (which is fine- it's free!). About 10 min off of 101.
Don’t be dissuaded by slight overtones of sketchiness as you pull in. The security folks were very friendly, no alcohol is served in the casino, it closed by 9:00 pm the Friday night we arrived, and the lot is for the most part quite level- nice if you’re in a van. Absolutely quiet during the night and we were greeted by two friendly and funny dogs in the morning. Would definitely stop there again during transit.
When it said casino we were expecting something bigger. The staff were friendly. Unfortunately, as a non-gambler, there was really nothing for me to spend money on, which I would have liked to have done to repay their kindness in letting RV's stay here. It was a short overnight stay and we were grateful for the opportunity of a night's rest.
There was no size limit to get in, park and exit. I parked along the right side in the way in, just to be out of the way, but the staff were happy for me to move onto the blacktop parking lot if I wanted. There were 3 local dogs running free around the parking lot when we were packing up, so just keep a watchful eye out if you are walking your dog.
Really nice small casino. Quiet stay. Great staff. If you need a free stay along 101, this place is it. Security on-site.
We arrived at 11:11 and there was nobody. Police showed up 5 minutes later and kindly asked us to leave.
Don’t be alarmed by the way this place looks. I agree, it’s a bit sketchy but the people are so nice. The casino has a leak so they are actually closed. Now, Jeff the food truck guy talked to the person in charge and they let us stay no problem. Btw, Jeff has great food. Mostly fried, but it’s nice to buy stuff to repay their kindness. His flatbread was awesome! I would definitely recommend this place. It was super quiet and we felt safe.
The casino is closed due to a roof leak. But the guy who runs the food truck spoke with the man in charge and he said we could still stay overnight. So we ended up getting some food from Jeff off of his food truck. Fried food, but was pretty good. Their flat bread was very good. It was a super quiet night and the nice people.
What a nice time at the Red Fox!
Arrived around 2:30 PM. The casino is as tiny as everyone mentioned before with probably three dozen slot machines and that's it. Tiny cafe in the back that never seemed to have anyone there - possibly because TJ's Indian Tacos have moved off of 101. The security podium is to the right when you entered and they had us sign a form and copied out drivers license. Confirmed there is no set time to leave and we could stay up to 3 days! Not necessary because we had other plans but very nice to know.
The lot was mostly empty and the casino hours of 12-9 PM meant everyone cleared out. it was remarkably quiet at night. Because of some construction at the trial rec space adjacent to the casino there was some noise during the day but no worse than you would have at any campground.
Oh yes - and we did end up playing the casino. Went in with $30 and left with about $60 so in the end it was a very productive night. Looking at the past reviews - I think the road has been redone in the past few years through there is a bridge coming in from Laytonville with a 30 ton limit. As for the 'sketchiness' - it's rural CA with a tribal community that is doing its best. I'll leave my comments at that.
In any case had a great time and if I am in the area again I will happily camp here again.
Nice Place To Stop For The Night For A Free Stay. Closes At 9 So It’s Quiet For The Night And Good Lighting Provided That Sense Of Security. We Even were Treated To Deer In The Field Next Door. Only Drawback Is It’s A Little Bit Off Hw101 So It Makes You Start To Second Guess The Decision And The Fact That They No Longer Have A Restaurant Open. Very Nice Security Guy Told Me It Closed During Covid And Never Reopened.
