This place was a great spot to set up camp while visiting family in Wetumpka. While it does NOT have gobs of amenities, it makes up for it in calm secluded surroundings.
We stayed a few days in December and only saw 3 other campers- 2 of which look like they’ve been there a while, but that didn’t make the place junky or crowded. The sites had electric and water hookups, plenty of space between in a lovely area (think southern trees, moss, river). The campground has an outdated (yet doable) bathhouse and is adjacent to the forts for exploring and some nice trails near the forts and down by the river. If you’re looking for new, gravel, open field kind of camping- go to camp sherrye on the coosa down the road. If you’re looking for off the main road, full of nature than take the meandering drive to Fort Toulouse.

Quiet little campground with 39 sites - 59/30/20 amp electric and water, dump station, bathrooms with showers (shower heads need replacing). Sites are roomy, most are big rig friendly, and tents are welcome. Campground is located at the convergence of the Coosa and Tallapoosa Rivers. There is a boat launch. The remains/restorations of Ft Toulouse (French) and Ft Jackson (early 1800s - War of 1812 era) are the reasons the park is designated a National Historic Site. Hiking and nature trails are available. We enjoy this campground often, so let’s keep this just between us.

Wetumpka, AL, close to Montgomery. 39 sites, mostly shaded, some on the bank of the Alabama River. Central bathhouse, friendly staff. Managed by the Alabama State Historic Commision in conjunction with the National Park Service and the State of Alabama. Lots of activities for kids. Pet friendly. Extremely laid back atmosphere for r and r! Bathhouses are clean but dated, but that’s not a big issue.

It was after dark when we arrived on a winter night. Someone had told me on phone we could pay host directly if arriving after hours but we actually had to drive the wrong way around some barricade to get into the park. Hosts popped by later for payment. Didn’t use showers which looked pretty basic and a bit moldy. But served for a night on the road btw Montgomery and Atlanta.

This was the first night (Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021) of our first extended one-month RV adventure to the Big Bend Texas area. We were nervous and uptight about everything. We arrived at Fort Toulouse-Jackson and felt immediately at peace. The weather was warm & sunny when we arrived early afternoon. Had lots of time to walk around and discover the entire historic area. There are many well-labeled paths that take you through the area as it once was. The Coosa and Tallapoosa Rivers converge at the park and trails follow the rivers. A really tranquil place and we’ll probably spend a night there on our return trip. First come first serve. Camp host will come around and collect your dues.

We have been passing through this small gem for 9 years. It's an older beautiful, peaceful, safe,campground/park with rich history. The camp hosts are friendly. The campground is older ,but can accommodate your needs. Bath houses are cleaned daily. Most sites are large enough to accommodate big rigs. They are all back in sites, with 20/30/50amp and water. Dump station is easily accessible and clean. Good night's rest we always get. They have a gate and it gets locked at 9pm.

I needed to visit Montgomery and one of my favorite campgrounds was full. I stumbled upon this and stayed three nights. The campground was super quiet and the camp hosts couldn’t be nicer. It’s an older park but it is well-maintained. The dump station is very easy to use. The bathhouse could use a lot of renovations but it was clean. I needed to return to Montgomery so came back here, this time for a week. It’s now a favorite campground.

I rarely stay anywhere without a reservation, but decided to take a chance here because it was a perfect location on our travel. First come first serve, but only 8 sites taken mid-February. Older well maintained park. Two camp hosts on-site. Site was 20 bucks a night including tax. We paid and they told us to pick any open site we wanted, which was nice. Got a nice level site on the river with great views out both sides of the RV, including a great sunset across the river. A good place for short hikes and wonderful historic sites to see. The road in is a few miles and dead ends at the campground. Walmart and Aldi 3 miles away made it a great stopover. Good Verizon signal and dead quiet. Hope to be this way again.

Really secluded yet close to Montgomery. We had sooo much space at our site. Only 7 out of 39 sites were taken. Complete darkness and silence when sleeping other than a couple owls. Fort jackson was closed while we were there which was a bummer but we still got to see the replica if fort Toulouse and the Alabama indigenous housing. Learned so much about the french and Indian wars and the indigenous communities who lived here before their land was stolen! Very affordable as well.
