Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on December 22, 2021There are 4 spots in this lovely little campground, with full hookups. They are in a field beside the museum, a grain elevator, and an inactive train. There's lots of space for running around. The dogs loved it.There are lots of farm implements moving around this little town, which was fun to watch, also.
We loved the peace and quiet. This was the quietest place we've ever stayed. There are no lights at night, which adds to the sense of peace. It would, however, make it very tricky to try to set up after dark. Even during the day, you have to get out and walk around a bit to get the sense of how the spots are laid out. Our site was level right off the bat. There's a self pay station, making check-in very easy and contact-free...something to be desired in these times of the pandemic, I guess. You pay in cash or check...no credit cards.
We had reservations, but they don't seem necessary and I don't see how they'd be enforceable, anyway.
This was a fantastic spot for an overnight stay on the road.

Very nice level grass sites with full hookups for $25/night. Seriously. The place is only 3 years old and the owners are obviously taking pride in what they’re doing. Only 4 sites but well maintained with plenty of room to maneuver your rig. There’s an historic home you can reserve as well. Follow the sign just west of the museum on highway 40 thru town to the old train depot.

We were just passing through on our way to Colorado so we didn’t stay the night, but filled our fresh water tank and dumped our black water tank. Would definitely recommend a night of camping though! The facility was clean, quiet and safe. Oh and there is a cute coffee/antique shop across the way!

I made a reservation and the ladies that took the reservation were super nice. Everything was easy with self pay. Full hookups and level. They had historical markers throughout the town for you to learn about the rise and fall of the railroad town. We did sit thru a Kansas thunderstorm with was very intense for this Georgia girl, but it passed by without incident. The flys were a little overwhelming, but disappeared after dark.

Simple 4 spots with full hookup year around but otherwise no amenities or a Picknick table. The coffee shop that others mentioned was unfortunately closed as it’s only open Tuesday through Saturday. Overall great spot for an overnight’s rest driving through Kansas on the way to southern Colorado.

We were passing through town and stayed the night in this lovely town. Everyone we met during our stay was so incredibly kind and welcoming. We had fun playing by our spot, exploring the town and especially chatting with locals sipping coffee, eating cinnamon rolls and buying antiques at the coffee shop across the street. Such a sweet way to spend time during our drive through Kansas. Thank you for your hospitality Fort Wallace!

Basically, they've installed water, electrical and sewer hookups in the middle of an empty patch of grass near the grain elevators. Makes a nice overnight stop on the road through going to or from Colorado. There was a train in the middle of the night and a little noise from the elevator fans, but otherwise very quiet and peaceful. Very sunny and hot, but hey, that's western Kansas in August.
They've added a small playground for kids and a pavilion with picnic tables since some of the earlier reviews.

We pulled in a couple hours before sunset and our son 3-yr-old son was thrilled to see the new playground. Hooking up was quick and easy and we made our way to the Museum to pay for our site as well as learn some history. Deb in the museum was super welcoming to our little family and taught us about some of the awesome historical displays. Camp site is mostly level, in the grass and very quiet.
