“We look forward to your visit”
Amanda and David have traveled across the globe over the past decade, for the most part forgoing chain lodging establishments, in favor of “mom & pop” establishments or vacation rentals. They have hospitality experience from renting vacation home property. One of their properties was one of the highest-rated in Marfa (a popular art community in far west Texas) on the vacation rental site VRBO.com. Positive reviews and guest book comments frequently referenced the high-quality beds and linens and location-appropriate décor. They bring the same experience to their guests at Roadrunner Lodge. We look forward to your visit and we would love the opportunity to tell you what we know about The Mother Road and our story if you inquire.
Reviews
We stayed here a few nights back and it was lovely. When we entered the room there was hip 60s music on...won us over straight away!!The rooms are brand new, beds are big and pillows are super comfy. The owners were more than helpful supplying us with maps, coupons and information. Blue Swallow recommended it to us as they were fully booked. We would urge you to stay here as our experience was great and would love to see the place doing well. They are only newly opened and only have a few rooms to choose from.
One of my first stops on my move from Fort Worth to Seattle. It was a welcome rest! The beds are so comfy and the linens are high quality. The owners are a very personable, the sort of attention you get from small business owners like this is always refreshing! I always prefer to give people like this my business and wish them much success. You won't be disappointed. Can't wait to stop here next trip through and see how many more rooms they have ready!
If you are on Route 66, I highly recommend your stay at the Roadrunner Lodge. Good folks, great beds in Tucumcari!
There is not a better place around.
Some may be flashy and some may be louder or brighter. But none have the original soul and character of this place. Some of the nicest people I have ever met and I would do anything that I could to help get this place on the map. This is the place to stop. No other options.

Owners are incredibly nice and hospitable! Best hotel we stayed at during our honeymoon trip!
Beware the misleading advertisement that the Lodge is pet friendly. They reserve the right to cancel your reservation unilaterally even after accepting a confirmed reservation from Travelocity, supposedly because they ran out of pet friendly rooms. This I am sure had nothing to do with our reservation being for a single night on Memorial Day Weekend. But then again, the very same room was open for reservations when they cancelled my reservation. Things that make you go hmmm.
We arrived very late but the staff was so accommodating and helpful! We were so tired and when we got to our room to find soft music playing, lights on, and it was all SUPER clean...this mommas mind was put at ease!
Beds and pillows were so comfortable. Sheets were nice and thick...and the towels ♥️ large and fluffy! Cannot praise this establishment enough!! Such a neat fun spot!! A perfect Route 66 pit stop!
Tremendous place to stay very clean and nostalgic. The gentleman who took the reservation was pleasant to deal with and made sure our needs were taken care of. Highly recommend staying here cannot do any better. True route 66 feel but very clean and updated.
This is my second time staying at the Roadrunner Lodge. I made it a point to come back here (it was the only thing I made sure I had on my Route 66 itinerary).
When I walked into room 12 I was greeted with a “Leader of the Pack” on the transistor radio. 📻 You have to check out the bathroom! The most unique bathroom I’ve ever seen!
If you want an authentic feel while staying on the Route, Tucumcari is definitely the town to stop in and the Roadrunner Lodge is the place to stay!
