“on the banks of Sandy River”
Handsome Tad Johnson known locally as a rascal and a fisherman ( in that order ), opened his roadhouse in the late 1920′s at the east end of the Sandy River bridge. Prohibition was still in effect, Bonnie and Clyde made the news and the Old Columbia River Highway was new then. The area was wild and rugged. We imagine some of the early customers may have been described the same way. Nestled on the banks of the Sandy River in Troutdale Oregon, Tad's is just twenty miles east of Portland. We are located in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic area on the Historic Columbia River Highway. We offer a warm, comfortable, and inviting dining experience for our guests. Tad's has been serving wonderful American food and fine drink since the 1920's.
Best green beans anywhere and fantastic fried chicken. I don't care for the dumplings but you might Love them
