Stull Cemetery

I grew up near here. Most of the lore surrounded the old church at the top of the hill, which was an easily accessible crumbling ruin. It's gone now, so the spot has lost some of it's appeal, but it's still a neat old cemetery. Small, right on a busy road, open during the day. There are private homes directly across the street, so if they see you in there after dark, they'll probably call the cops.

If you're thinking about visiting take note, the police patrol the are quite often and the nearby neighbors are quick to call in trespassers. It's an absolutely awesome place, with a badass history, but you visit might be better off from the road.

Legend has it that this cemetery was so evil that the Pope wouldn't fly over it. Of course, when you think about it, it's highly doubtful that the Pope would be flying over rural Kansas to begin with, but it's still a great story.

There's all kinds of local tales about how the old church would be home to black masses and Satanic rituals, even ones announcing the arrival of the devil himself on Halloween night, but today, the old church is gone and the cemetery is just like any other graveyard in the middle of town.

It's neat to see if you enjoy the history, but if you're looking to be stunned by creepiness, you're going to leave disappointed. Oh, and DON'T go after dark. You have more to fear from the cops than the Devil.

The locals here all know it is very evil. When I first moved here, I did not know about the place. I accidentally drove by it the first year I lived here. Horrible experience. I could feel overwhelming HATE bearing down on me and a strange compunction to drive myself off the road. I knew I was under strong outside spiritual attack. It was BAD! I called it Devil Road and made certain to NEVER take that route out of Lawrence again. Much later, I found out that all the locals know all about it. If you ask anyone, they will tell you. The people who live in and around Stull must be in on it. i.e. satanists or something not fully human themselves. Something is beyond wrong with that place...

I would not waste your time driving here. There is a no trespassing sign on the locked gate entrance to this cemetery. You cannot enter. The best you can do is stop on the side of the road and look thru the chain link fence.

Highly overrated. We went during the day and it was all closed up. The church is gone and the headstones are small. Not much to see from the road. Pretty far out of town to begin with so not really worth the trip.

Stopped here purely because my stepdaughter is a supernatural fan. We did not see the church. It is a small cemetery.

Pretty cemetery now. Nothing like the pic that is on this site. The old church is now in ruins at the top of the hill. If your stopping because your a Supernatural fan, don't…there's nothing here even remotely close to what it was on Supernatural. If you like cemeteries (like I do) it is a pretty and peaceful place to stop at.

I was born and raised 10 minutes from here and when I was in high school my friends and I went to the church one night (before the cops patrolled it) and we through things down the stairs in the church and they NEVER made a noise. Not a cling it was like no matter what we threw down there it never hit the ground it kept going. Nobody I know has ever went Halloween night we were all to scared.
