September 9th, 2021: RVer reports that Overnight RV Parking is allowed, confirming numerous reports from May 2021 & earlier, & info provided by NM DOT. State of NM allows parking in Rest Areas for a maximum of 24 hours in any three-day period. Mostly level, with mild slope in some areas. Paved parking areas lighted; unpaved picnic loops unlighted. Quieter than most rest areas. at least when parking in picnic loops; feels safe. Paved area has ~ 14 long-vehicle parking spaces. Restrooms, drinking water, picnic tables.
Directions
EB I-40, Milepost 251, serving EB traffic. Exit I-40 to rest area, then turn R to separate (unlighted) picnic area loop for quietest area.
