Stuart Lake Recreation Area

It’s reopened and cleaned from all the storm damage.

We visited the Day Use Area and Campground on 1/6/2023, but did not stay overnight. The campground was easy access with 8 well-spaced, asphalt sites, each with picnic table and grill/fire ring. Slightly-inclined sites 1 through 4 were suitable for larger rigs and the shorter, more-inclined sites 5 through 8 were suitable for camper trucks and vans. There was a clean, stocked Vault Toilet, trash receptacles, and access to Glenn Emory Trail. The sand/soil pine-straw-covered, linear trail, suitable for walking or mountain biking, was 2 miles (4 miles out and back) over rolling hills through a tall-pine and hardwood forest. From the campground, a short walk down the hill and around the lake (or one can drive) was the Day Use area that had a toilet/shower house (4 lockable, individual rooms), large picnic area with well-spaced tables, a pier deck, and a swimming beach.
