Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on November 13, 2021We have boondocked on BLM land for the last 5 months. We have never felt as insecure as we did here. The camp host has been AWOL for more than 24 hours. In an almost empty campground, we had people set up camp after dark directly adjacent to us. We are trying to maintain social distancing. When confronted, they became argumentative. The camp host was off duty for the evening and the entire next day. We had to move even though we were there first.
The campground is in deplorable condition due to a flood a year ago. It is my opinion it should be closed until appropriate dangers can be taken care of. We had two huge ankle-breaking holes in site #174.
The litter and trash, including outside the camp host’s kiosk, is out of control.
Also the campground is not restricted to paid campers. Several people arrived in the evening to fish behind our campsite.

Clean campsite with paved road through out the campground. Pads are pretty level gravel and spaced out nicely. The modern bath house are either under construction or closed currently. There isn’t a lot of shade but not to big of problem with a awning or shade canopy. Picnic tables are needing the wood replaced but nice to have.

This campground was closed all camping season of 2021 for upgrades. It was opened back up Nov 1st and we stayed the first weekend after it was reopened. New 30 and 50 amp power pedestals were installed as well as new water hookups at each site. The pads where redone and was spot on level for me. The bath house is relatively new and was very clean. The loop was mostly full on the first November weekend. The camp host was available when we checked in and visible throughout the loop during the weekend. We are always amazed at how quiet it gets when camping at the different loops at Hillsdale State Park. This weekend was no exception. What struck us most was having conversations with our various neighbors. Though we've never had an unfriendly experience camping at Hillsdale State Park, this weekend just seemed like a community.
