This is a free Dump Station (though donations are welcome) and easily accessed dump in the town of Ontario, OR. Rtes I-84 and 26 converge/diverge just west of town. Best to use exit 376 (A/B) and it's about 5-10 min from there through town. There's a Flying J in town as well as Les Schwab and excellent RV repair shop, Rocking R Campers as well.
The Dump Station is easily accessible on the road outside the fairgrounds.
We stayed one night on our way to Klamath Fall, Oregon. As I understand there is a three teared rate. Dry camping with clean rest room access $10 to add electricity it is $15 and for electric and water the rate is $20 per night. We stayed along side the building. There was 50 amp hook up, internet service and clean restrooms (no showers). While we didn't have water hook up I did fill our fresh water tank so I went ahead and paid the full $20. This was a great place to stay a day or even a few days while exploring the Ontario Oregon area. The only thing that kept me from giving this a perfect rating is there is no Dump site.
This fairground park is small but well set up. We were on a grassy site with water & electric (we didn't need the dump station but it was available). They have an honor box for your payment (if you have Passport America, you need to write your number on the envelope to get the $10 rate).
There were a couple of groups in the park, while we were there, and I can see it's a nice set up for groups. We only stayed one night and would happily return on our way through the area again.
I like this spot. Quite, close to town. On route to west Oregon. Wifi is available for free
When we arrived we were expecting to pay the price that others had mentioned. We were surprised to find that they had increased the price to $30 and with Passport America (for 1 night) you could pay $15. There’s literally a nice RV resort 1 mile away for the same price of $30. In my opinion, this place wasn’t worth the $15, let alone the $30 that I watched a few pay. This is def and overnight spot but again, I wouldn’t pay $30. The sites are tiny, but the location was good—conviently located around good food & grocery shopping but this morning they turned off our water and it’s been off for the last 3hrs. Thankfully we’re headed out. Ensure that you dump at the dumpstation located to the right of the entrance before going in. Also, there are horse barns out here that have attracted a lot of flies, so expect to keep doors and windows closed up.
It’s $15 if you have an America is beautiful pass. Level grass sites on the fairground site. Very quiet and peaceful. There is a dump station on the left hand side when exiting with a $5 donation. This one gets a tick. We stayed in a 26 foot Class C and had plenty of room.
No toilets or showers available at the time.
This is a good spot to spend the night while traveling through eastern Oregon. To locate the campsites, enter the fairgrounds under the white arch, then turn left at the red grandstand to the RV area. There are 24 partial hookup sites with water and electric and 50 dry camping sites. There are a couple trees in the partial hookup sites with open area in the dry camping sites. All sites are on grass. We had our own water and power so we stayed in the dry camping area. The sign says there is an on-site dump station but we didn't need to dump, so I didn't look at it. There were two RVs in the partial hookup area. We were the only camper in the dry area. There is no host.
As of 9/9/2019, the Malheur County Fairgrounds website lists the following prices:
$20.00 water and electric.
$15.00 electric.
$10.00 dry camping.
The sign at the pay box lists the following prices:
$30.00 water and electric.
$15.00 dry camping.
Payment is made at a self-service pay box at the northeast corner of the partial hookup area.
The area is mostly quiet. There is occasional light road noise from the neighborhood beside the fairgrounds. I-84 is close by but there is very little traffic noise. An occasional train can be heard in the distance. The most noise we heard was during the morning from a large number of chirping birds.
Verizon: 16.5 mbps down, 14.7 mbps up.
AT&T: 1.6 mbps down, 8.4 mbps up.
We frequently lost connection to the fairgrounds Wifi.
We were planning on staying at Exit 3 RV Park, but it was closed for the winter. This place is probably better. $30 per night, first night is $15 with Passport America or America the Beautiful? Don't know. I put $45 in the envelope for two nights with my America the Beautiful number and didn't hear from anyone. Pretty quiet at night. BTW, the RV dump site is outside the entrance, at the corner of NW 8th St. and NW 8th Ave.
We stayed 1 night in our class A mh. Plugged into #6, when we woke the next am, our 2 month old batteries were completely dead. Had to start the rv (separate batteries) to start the generator so we could do the mainenance things in order to leave.
The plusses: the groundskeeper was very a commodating, even moved the sprinklers so we could park. Very quiet on a Sat nite. We paid $15, used Am the Beautiful. Level site. Grounds were neat and clean, but no bath facilities.
Six sites, all grass, most easy pull thrus. We were one of three rigs here. 50 amps in site 2. However, only sites 1 and 6 have water at their sites (4 hose bibs at both sites) so you’ll need a long water hose if you’re in sites 2-5. Hence my 3 star review. However, we did have a nice shade tree and it was very quiet on a Saturday night in hot August. Mostly consider this a convenient overnighter for passing through. Very good Verizon signal. Although other reviews mention a price discount, there was no indication of this at the honor pay box and no one around to ask so I just paid the $30 as shown on their sign. All in all, would stay again if passing through.
