“get back to nature”
Orr Park offers residents and visitors an opportunity to "get back to nature", to play organized sports, to use a variety of park equipment, to have family picnics, and to engage in just about any other imaginable outdoor activity. Beautiful Shoal Creek meanders through Orr Park providing opportunities for fishing, wading, canoeing, kayaking, and just "watching the creek roll by." A paved walking trail follows the creek for much of its journey through the park. In 2003, Shelby County provided the City with some exciting enhancements to the park. The brand new playground equipment and restrooms tie for favorite among parents and children.Local artist, Tim Tingle, has given the dead cedars in Orr Park a new life by transforming many of these ancient tree "stumps" into intricate wood carvings. Mr. Tingle created these sculptures as a gift for which the City is grateful. The walking trail is adorned with an ever increasing number of carvings like this dragon. Park visitors marvel at this unique art form and enjoy the creativity and gift of Tim Tingle. The park is equipped with multiple picnic shelters. These facilities are available to the public for impromptu picnics as well as organized events.
My family and myself LOVED this little park. We’re from Ohio and just happen to come across it. Such amazing art! The trail was perfect length for the kids to walk and nicely kept up. Would love to come back in the future.
Our family loves this park. We go at least once a week. Large, clean playground, clean bathroom, picnic area, amazing tree carvings, kept up grounds, there is a little waterfall and gazebo. This park is even a geocaching site. Highly recommend for a family day or a great stop to stretch your legs on a roadtrip.
Great place for running, walking and swimming. There is a shelter, a playground and a few benches. The short trail around the park is beautiful. There are awesome carvings all throughout the park in the trees and in the ground. 💯
Cute park! The kids enjoyed going around to all the trees and mimicking the expressions. Nice stop!
