Since the cities founding a century slave-holders met to trade slaves for commerce on this site; though federal legislation officially ended the importation of slaves in 1808, there were flagrant violations of the law until 1860; slave trade was very active here.

Easy to find. There isn’t much to look at but I think it’s important to acknowledge this site. Parking is on the street.

Just the plaque in the pics. Stands right across the U.S. customs and border protection building. Around the corner there's another plaque (second pic)
