“Five acres of 200 huge dakota sandstones”

“Minneapolis, Kansas - Rock City is a five acre park which contains about 200 huge Dakota sandstone concretions. The spheres are up to 27 feet in diameter and you are encouraged to climb on them and do pretty much whatever you want. Rock City claims that there is no place else in the world with so many huge concretions.  Rock City is 3 1/2 miles south of Minneapolis off Highway 106. There is a small gift shop where Rock City, Inc., the local non-profit corporation that operates the park, collects a $3 fee. There is a bucket to leave money when the gift shop is closed.”

Very neat. Worth the stop: at least to break up monotony of driving across Kansas. Easy stop to stretch legs

Much better than I anticipated! Worth the stop to wander among the oddly placed rocks!

Fun place to stop and get out and stretch your legs. I imagine kids would have a good time climbing on, around and under the rock formations. Very interesting. Small area won't take up much of your time.

We stopped here a couple years ago. It was very interesting and my kids really enjoyed climbing on the rocks. Worth the trip!

This was a neat place kind of in the middle of nowhere. It was a little out of the way, but we were glad we did it. It was $3 per adult and 50 cents per child. Several people were climbing on the rocks, and it makes for great photos. They do have restrooms and ample parking.

Very cool spot! I couldn't believe the rocks were just randomly in the middle of KS. Would have given 5 stars had the place not been overrun by crazy attack bugs that nest in the ground... (my only thoughts were yellow jackets). I would say go here early spring or late fall when the bugs are not around!

Kids (ages 4 & 8) enjoyed it! Rocks were huge and it was HOT, but the friendly lady in the gift shop offered the kids free freezer pops when they finished climbing. Maps took us way off course when I clicked "navigate" from the RT app, but when I searched Rock City in Maps, it led us there. According to the gift shop lady, GPS sometimes sends people to the other side of the highway, and Ivy Rd does not go through. Cost was $3 per adult, $0.50 per child. Hard to find at first but worth it in my opinion.

It was nice to stretch my legs a bit and climb all over the rocks. They were much bigger than I expected.
