“simply the best in Memphis”
Memphis Pizza Café opened for business in March 1993, the brainchild of owners Gary Garlington, Kevin McReynolds, and Tom Selakovich. The original location was in historic Overton Square on Madison Avenue. (We moved down four doors into the current Midtown location in January 1995, acquiring much more space and a patio). Business grew such that by late 1994 we began to think about a second location. The year 1994 also marked the beginning of a streak that saw us win the “Best Pizza” competition in both the Memphis Flyer’s Reader’s Poll and the Memphis Magazine’s Subscriber’s Poll. We have been fortunate enough to win these awards annually ever since then. In early 1995 we selected an East Memphis site, and opened in May 1995 on Park Avenue across from the Eastgate Shopping Center. Seeking a location even further east, we opened in the Saddle Creek Shopping Center in Germantown in November of 1997. No further expansion occurred until 2002 when we (mistakenly, as it turned out) opened a location behind the Wolfchase Mall on Highway 64. It wasn’t until 2006 that we expanded again, opening 2 new stores. The first was on rapidly developing Getwell Road in Southaven MS, and the second at the intersection of Poplar and Byhalia in Collierville. Since the beginning, Memphis Pizza Café has been known for serving excellent thin-crust pizzas, tasty sandwiches, the freshest salads, and good cold beverages. We make our pizza dough daily, it’s never frozen and doesn’t contain any sugars or dairy products. MPC also uses only the freshest vegetables, meats, and cheeses, receiving grocery deliveries several times weekly. We operate full-service restaurants so you don’t have to go up to the bar to place your food order or get drink refills. MPC offers dine-in or carry-out service only, we don’t deliver because we want our focus to be on quality instead of speed. We also were one of the pioneer restaurants to offer online ordering for our customers. All of our locations are neighborhood based and are actively involved in their respective communities, always doing what we can to help schools, churches, and other charitable organizations. In addition to these groups, Memphis Pizza Café is a Sponsor/Donator to the following organizations/events: Zoo Rendezvous, UCF Subsidium Preview Party, UCF Great Chef’s Tasting, St. Peter Villa 5K, Memphis Italian Festival, Rendezvous at the Dixon, Shelby Recreational and Vocational Services, and The Memphis Food Bank. Memphis Pizza Cafe sucks! Food and service were absolutely terrible! Had to ask repeatedly for drinks and extra sauce somehow resulted in a pizza with no sauce. Server never checked back, so...... Read more
