“Experience a geologic phenomenon!”

Sinks Canyon State Park, six miles southwest of Lander on Highway 131, features a geologic phenomenon in which the Popo Agie River vanishes into a large cavern (the Sinks) but reappears in a trout-filled pool, The Rise, about half a mile down the canyon. A visitor center features wildlife and recreation exhibits, viewing sites and interpretive signs about wildlife and habitat requirements. The park contains hiking trails and offers camping, picnicking, rock climbing and fishing. Sinks Canyon is also home to a wide variety of wildlife, birds and plants. Visitors might see porcupines, black bears, red squirrels, bighorn sheep, mule deer, moose or golden eagles.

Such a beautiful place! If you're up for an adventure, this place is perfect because there are big rocks, rushing water, and plant and wildlife abound. I highly recommend that you do camping and hiking here for more adventure.

Great place for an overnight stop. Very peaceful with plenty of white water noise to rock you to sleep.

We enjoyed an awesome night at Sinks Canyon. Our campsite was spacious and scenic with the sound of rushing water. A number of trails were established nearby. The trails are awe-inspiring with rushing water and abundant plant and wildlife. There are no hook-ups but there is a dump and water station in Lander. Great preview of our trip to Teton and Yellowstone.

Beautiful area just outside of Lander. Many types of hiking trails for all ability levels.

Take the short walk from the sinks to the rise to feed the fish. There’s fish food for them for .25 - please don’t bring bread.

State park was really good, with differing terrain throughout. Campground was mediocre, costs $11 for a tent site, vault toilets, and rubbish disposal. There were no maps or signs to find a suitable trail, so just have to 'guess' where to go. Didnt see any staff. Wasnt great but wasnt bad either
