The museum is housed in the first original two-room schoolhouse built in Lacombe. Located at 6115 St. Mary St., it contains, among other things, several historical artifacts and original documents from the French and Choctaw Indians, who were some of the first settlers in Lacombe. A leisurely walk through the museum will unfold the rich history of the Bayou Lacombe area, as well as the history and customs of some of the town’s first families and other important historical figures who lived in Lacombe during those formative years.
