The volunteer camp host, Steve, met me at the gate within minutes and guided me to my site. Site #30 is SO long, I just pulled straight into the site, truck first, since it was too dark to see how to back in. My LevelMate Pro showed that the site was perfectly level before I even got out of my truck. The next morning I backed out of the site, then backed the camper into the paved site with a massive crushed gravel picnic area with a large picnic table, food prep table, grill, and fire ring. Only 3 stars for location, since it’s miles from nowhere. Check out my pictures!

In the middle of nowhere this well-maintained ACoE campground has comfort and relaxation in mind. Zero to one bar of AT&T cell service insures nobody from the outside will bother you, and you will likely be restricted to resorting to your own imagination. Several ¾ mile hiking trails as well as barge-watching on the river provides the necessary entertainment.
The camp hosts are all friendly and bend over backwards to make sure your stay is comfortable. A good stopover destination if traveling through on Hwy 84. One night would have been plenty given the obscure online considerations here, but we reserved our site #14 for two nights and used our time wisely doing a couple of loads of laundry and catching up on hot showers. $13 per night reflects our lifetime senior pass.
Everything is very clean here and the pride of the camp hosts is everywhere evident. Too much rain, clouds, and humidity to take advantage of the hiking trails. Water and electricity at sites, with dump station and dumpster ¼ mile between guardhouse and campground. Nice boat ramp and picnic area.

Wow! What a nicely maintained campground. Sites are large, level concrete pads and wood bordered gravel “yards.” The gravel was even freshly raked when I arrived. Several pull-thru sites and about half the sites are on the river. Very quiet.
I would rate the access five stars but it is not near any interstates (a good thing in my opinion) although US84 is a good road and the road back to the campground is paved.

Ticked all our boxes for a night on the road. Can’t imagine going here as destination but fishing seems to be the lure. Level, Zen-raked gravel
site next to River levee. Super clean showers. To our astonishment a barge pushed by a tug went up the river that night!

Alabama is a state of many rivers, and its mighty Tombigbee River is one that draws water from the pristine Sipsy Wilderness and Bankhead National Forest down to its muddy, murky confluence with the Alabama River leading to the Mobile River Delta. The number of barges that go up and down the river make this a unique campground. Facing east to the river you have beautiful sunrises and easy on-the-eyes sunsets. Sky colors can be spectacular almost reflecting the river’s meandering path. The camp hosts are delightful and dutifully prepare your site with raked gravel and cleaned out fire pits and barbecue grills before your arrival. Let it be known that this campground’s biggest asset is the river and its barges. It is a few miles from a Dollar General - or “The Embassy” as some campers call it. A fish camp is near by as is the periodically opened “Bimbo’s” pizza/steak pit in Silas. With roughly 30 sites and spacing, this campground is excellent. Clean bathhouse with great, clean hot showers. The two tent sites are super situated. All sites are great, but river frontage is best. Water & Electric. No sewer hook up but dump station on site. 1/2 price if in possession of Senior Discount Card via USGS.

Super clean, easy access. We had a pull through site on the river. Fabulous campground with wonderful hosts. No cycling trails and very little around. Speed test showed 60mbps on Visible which is Verizon prepaid.

Very nice clean, quiet COE campground. All of the grills and firepits were cleaned and ready to use. The camp host was friendly and helpful. You have some view of the river from every site and a great view from sites on the east side of the road. I enjoyed watching the barges pass. Will definitely return to this campground.

Our site 10 was right on the water. We watched boats and barges come down the Tombigbee River. One of the smaller COE parks. It was clean, and the sites were well-spaced. Bathrooms were very clean. Staff were great. Grocery stores were not close by. Stock up before you come. We paid half price senior pass discount.

We stayed here mid-May, 2023. Our price reflects what we call the "geezer discount". Water & power at our long pull-thru site for $13 a night! The sites along the river starting at site #3 are all fantastic - great views of the river. The ones on the other side are set more in the trees and are beautiful as well. The hosts were all super nice and friendly. Dump station, dumpster, older bathhouse, but shower pressure was great. Fireflies at night! Super quiet. Had quite a bit of rain, so didn't do the trails. Really a great spot to just hang out and watch the river traffic!
