US 287 SB Roadside Picnic Area

June 6th, 2019: RVer report confirms numerous reports from Oct 2015 & earlier, & info provided by TX DOT. Overnight RV Parking is allowed. State of Texas allows parking for up to 24 hours is allowed at Roadside Picnic areas unless there is signage to the contrary. This Picnic Area is in the fork of US 287 and SR 70, with an entrance/exit to each highway. In addition to the paved roadway, there is an additional unpaved roadway with a large gravel area immediately to the E, between Picnic Area & RR Tracks, used by trucks for Overnight Parking. Level, unlighted, appears safe. Possible noise from adjacent RR tracks or from parked trucks. Two sheltered picnic tables, trash barrels; no other known amenities.
