Note: Just because you pay for a spot with a little pier behind it, does NOT mean that’s your private pier - even if you pay for a Deluxe spot. The piers are for all guests to use. So you may end up with a bunch of people right behind your RV at any hour of the day. It’s a little weird. However, it's only one of two parks within reasonable biking distance to town (under 5 miles is reasonable to me, it might not be for you), and the other one only has 4 spots.

The park is tiny and the 63 spots are very tightly packed together. It’s basically a parking lot without the nice flat pavement, so bring your leveling blocks. But it’s a short bike ride to town making the location great. Our spot was waterfront (#7), so I’m not sure how the noise level is in front spots that are right on the road (and I mean RIGHT on the road). There are some trees for shade in the interior spots, but watch out for the signs indicating low branches.

This is a place to come to park while you explore the town and the gulf. You'll hear your neighbors, the cars going by, people walking their dogs -- it's definitely not quiet.

Everything the previous reviewer said is true. This is a very small campground and units are quite tightly packed together. As the park says, this is an old park designed and built when RVs were much smaller than today. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, both on the phone and in person. Very nice! Check in was easy (we had made a reservation, but they worked with me and easily allowed me to change our site after we took a first hand look at it). The pads are gravel and the road is dirt. We camped there Wednesday through Friday night and as I type this on Thursday the campground is not very full, although we could not get a waterfront site--I assume they are booked for later in the week. This is a very peaceful place, but while they seem to be working to improve it (the clubhouse is currently being rebuilt and most of the electrical system, pedestals, etc., appear fairly new) it needs more work and could maybe be a bit neater. In all fairness though, I believe they were probably heavily damaged by Hurricane Hermine a couple of months ago and are still in the repair and cleanup process. My Verizon Mi-Fi device is receiving two bars of 4G/LTE and my iPhone reads -114 db and LTE inside our travel trailer with no external antenna. The campground has Wi-Fi, but it is very, very slow. I ran a speed test and averaged around .3-.5 Mbps download and around .1 Mbps upload speeds. Thus, I am using my Verizon Mi-Fi--much faster. This is a Good Sam rated park and we, being GS members, got a 10% discount off the $50 per night rate, thus the $45 per night shown. Ada Cafe is onsite, but is closed today, so we have not tried it yet. I think they advertise 27 flavors of homemade fudge!! There is a very quaint Tiki Bar a few doors down--we enjoyed it. I think they could make this campground better by having a few less campsites with a bit more room per campsite. As it currently is I honestly think it's a bit overpriced; however, having said all that, we would definitely stay here again. We really enjoy the laid back, friendly atmosphere of Cedar Key.

We booked 10 nights at Sunset Isle RV park after reading blog posts and reviews (Thanks Technomadia!) and we had a lovely time! The spaces are tight, so don’t expect privacy and solitude. But the sunset views are lovely and it is very relaxing and quiet at night. If you mind the tides, you can launch your kayak right from the campground. At low tide the waterfront is a large mud flat and you’ll need to launch your kayak at the city park in town.

The owners are very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a waterfront site, $50 is the daily rate – they also offer discounted weekly and monthly rates for most sites and 10% off for Good Sam members. The closest larger town with a full-service grocery is Chiefland so stock up in advance. There is a small market in town for staples and a Dollar General about 7 miles away.

If you want to be social, there are activities planned nearly every evening (bingo, pot lucks, music, game nights, etc.). In addition to the restrooms/showers and a laundry facility, the on-site Ada Blue café is open from 7:30am – 2:30pm (closed Thursdays).

The park is just 1 ½ miles outside the town of Cedar Key, which is well worth exploring. Lots of fun, funky art, restaurants, and a very nice city park and beach. Be sure to visit the Tiki Bar at the Low-Key Hideaway next door. We also made day trips from Cedar Key to Manatee Springs State Park and into Crystal River for Captain Mikes Swim with the Manatees excursion. Both get a solid thumbs up.

We had 3 bars of Verizon 4G unboosted. The park offers free Wifi which worked ok, but speeds were often too slow to do more than check email.

Popular park with snowbirds and full timers. Has a great community vibe during season, with something to do almost every day if you are feeling social.

The onsite restaurant is affordable and was very consistent in food quality and service during our stay.

This park has made use of every inch of space they have so the sites are tight, but staying here is about the location and community more than the sites themselves.

This park was heavily damaged by a hurricane in 2016 so some things have changed from prior years. The docks no longer exist, but the mangroves are much lower so the sunset views are fantastic. They've also completely remodeled the clubhouse and hotel rooms.

Price is based on a monthly rate on a non waterfront site.

Price is based on waterfront site. All spaces are sand and gravel but fairly level. Location is tough to beat as they are a little over a mile from downtown Cedar Key. Check out the Tiki Bar (walking distance) in the evening for a drink and live music on the water! Very friendly folks all around, we enjoyed our short stay.

We stayed a month for their very preferred monthly rate; we had to change our dates several months in advance and they were helpful in accommodating us. We stayed on sites 3 and 5 during our stay. Note the length of the waterfront sites 1 - 6 is quite shallow, with 1 being the shortest and 5 and 6 the deepest. Mostly various class B buses and small trailers came and went from these sites. Our 17' trailer fit fine with the tow vehicle parked sideways across the front. Site 3 has uneven tree roots in the ground near the water which makes it not great for rear door RVs such as truck campers.

The piers were all destroyed by Hurricane Hermine on Sept 2, 2016. You can still access the water however for kayaking or canoeing only during the 2-3 hour window around high tide; at low tide the water retreats leaving behind mud. The largest access is located between sites 1-2, though there are smaller accesses at sites 3 and 5. People are generally friendly and we just asked nicely and no one minded if we put in and out at the access. Sites along the road have no separation at all from the road; the speed limit is only 35mph but still, I wouldn't want to camp there. Road noise by the waterfront is minimal.

The Tiki Bar is a block down the road and is open from 2 - 9pm everyday. They were hard hit by the hurricane but have done a complete clean up. It is a lovely space to go hang out as they have a pier and dock with seats, comfy swinging chairs and a communal fire pit. Bartender Sam will play guitar for you and they have live music several nights per week. Also the drinks are awesome!

Lots of dogs in the park with nowhere to walk but around the small campground. Campground wifi is useless during the day but almost useable overnight and in the early morning. We got decent signal on our T-mobile plan and did not need our booster.

We moved around a lot here because we decided to stay for a month to get their great monthly rate. The waterfront sites had our favorite views, but they can be hot since there is often no shade.

The amenities were great, they have a clubhouse with washers and dryers, clean showers and bathrooms, and have activities almost every day of the week if you want.

We loved the people here! It is a tight-knit community which can be a bit intimidating realizing almost everyone knows one another, but for the most part everyone was really nice and welcoming! We loved Gail in the office, she introduced us to many things to do in the area within our first few minutes of arriving.

We loved that we could walk into Cedar Key, kayak at high tide right from the campground, and eat breakfast at the on-site restaurant.

Cell service was great for us with Verizon and AT&T, but I don't remember the bars. The wifi there like most campgrounds is all but unusable most of the time.

The main con here was the size of the sites. With our long bed truck and 25 ft Airstream, there were some sites that were tough to navigate into. Then once you're in, you're right on top of your neighbor.

Probably our favorite part of this place were the sunsets!!

Awesome little campsite. They have multiple waterfront back-in sites. We stayed a pull-though with a water view. The site is even and gravel so mud! Water electric sewer and cable at the site. The ambiance is old real ‘tacky’ Florida which is great. Will definitely stay here again!

This is a very special place that we will definitely return to. The waterfront sites have absolutely beautiful water views. Friday night was pot luck night, Wednesday was coffee and donuts morning, and there were nightly bonfires, which created a great community feel here.

There's laundry and 4 bath/shower rooms right in the center of this small park. There's also a quirky tiki bar just a few hundred feet down the street that you can walk to for your sunset beverages,

The only things I would caution are that during our stay, there was a storm that combined with tidal changes, brought the water uncomfortably close to our rig. From talking to folks there, it was apparently a pretty extreme case though, but worth noting. Also, we started in site #18, which is cannot recommend to anyone. It's considered a waterfront site and costs more than the interior sites, but has no actual waterviews whatsoever if anyone is in 17, which was the case for us. Thankfully, they were able to move us to 8, which had a fantastic view and is worth the premium!

PROS:
-Very close proximity to town
-Dog bags available
-Trash and recycling
-Beautiful sunsets
-Community events - this park did a really great job of building community and helping you get to know everyone.
-Really enjoyed getting to know our neighbors. They were very friendly and kind.
-We felt very safe staying at this park.
-Noticed the bathrooms were cleaned daily.

CONS:
-Very, very tight spaces. Our neighbors poop hose was right outside our front door.
-Sites are gravel, so muddy when it rains.
-Pesticide spraying without signs. We have a dog and a baby and asked them to label where they were spraying so my dog wouldn’t track poison into our home and so our baby wouldnt be playing in it. We were told to, “walk our dog somewhere else”. You can get a pack of 50 labels for like $5 and even reuse them. Apparently we were asking too much.
-Work campers would walk through our site and also speak very loudly right outside our windows while my baby was trying to sleep. They simply had no etiquette or manners.
-The laundry machines would break down every week.
-The bath houses were adequate. Many times they were shut down temporarily for maintenance.
-Very slow internet. Some days, unavailable.
-Occasional loud boats in bay. Construction going on next door.
