Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on October 30, 2021My wife called for reservation and left messages call back. They did and were able to help us for 3 days Wed-fri. Great drive on I-84 East along the Columbia river. Exit 44 to campground is easy drive through town. You must go under a railroad bridge with a 12 Ft. clearance so be aware. Sites are right near river and an old lock that is no longer used with the adjacent island now accessible by bridge. Our rate was $35.00 a night with a $10.00 reg fee. 30 and 50 amp hook-up with water. Dump site as you go out. You are right next to Union Pacific RR but not nearly as noisy as you might think. Slept like a baby due to the fresh air. You can walk to town for burgers and ice cream. They have Native American fish market for seafood and smoked salmon- Yum. Very reasonable prices.

Nice small campground between train tracks and old locks. Lots of open space. Basic restroom and shower but all clean and works well. Nice for overnight while on the way along the Columbia

The sites are primitive, the train is very loud, and the bathrooms aren't so great...that being said, this one of my favorite places to rv camp...not many places give you a feeling like this one does...there is a drive-in for hamburgers and ice cream up the hill...and also a nice microbrewery with very good beer....the view is amazing, watching barges maneuver under the bridge of the gods.
We stayed here in September, 2018 on a whim - had another campground picked out, but the road was closed due to fire damage. Pulled in here and grabbed a site and luckily it was open for two nights! Warning - a low bridge and tight turn make for large or tall RVs a bit... scary! The sites are closer to each other than our normal style, but the view of the gorge, Bridge of The Gods, the old locks and everything about this place was incredible! We had a blast talking to the PCT hikers and hanging out with our neighbors. Loved the walking here, the old equipment, being super close to the brewery (fantastic food!) and Bonneville Dam. We enjoyed every minute here and would definitely go back - some places you get out of it what you put into it!

Small park w/ 12 feet clearance under RR bridge to access it. Explore the bluff across the locks - very nice views on a sunny day.

Well situated right in the scenic Columbia Gorge, this campground makes a great basecamp. Portland/Vancouver is less than an hour west. There are infinite outdoor recreational opportunities steps away from the campground. We hiked on the Gorge Trail (tr #400), and the old scenic highway trail. You can also walk or ride a bike to the town of Cascade Locks a few hundred feet away. We bought fresh salmon at the Native fish market and got beer to go at Thunder Island brewing.
We prepaid online and arrival was easy. Our site was marked with our name and there was no check-in needed. On the weekend we were here in late September there were several other sites available without reservations.
Campsites are situated on a small bluff overlooking the old locks. The view is mostly of the locks and Thunder Island. You can walk over the locks to the island which has well manicured lawns, walking trails and views of the Columbia River.
Positives:
Clean, well maintained and spacious sites
Pleasant and well maintained park grounds
Dog friendly
Close to recreation and civilization
Free wifi was decent. Good enough for video calls.
Negatives:
Like any spot in the Columbia gorge, the railroad traffic is 24/7. The trains run within 200 feet of the campsites.
We didn't mind it too much though.
Site quality was okay for us, but may disappoint some: gravel sights, no fire pits, no sewer hook-ups.

Very small (16 sites) campground that is well laid out and maintained. All sites have electricity and some have water. There is a dump station on site as well as showers and restrooms. Very convenient to town. Great camp host. You can reserve online or pay for a site there, if there are any available. We were herr October 2021 and each night had at least a few open sites.
We had a stellar view of the Bridge of the Gods, the Columbia River, Thunder Island and the old locks. There’s a museum, a park, lots of paths to walk, town is literally across the railroad track, and the list goes on. During “off season” it’s only $26 nightly with electric hookups. There is a low bridge to go under with 12’ clearance and a tight turn that big rigs may have an issue with. The train runs often and it can be pretty loud, but didn’t bother us too much. The pros far outweighed the cons! If you ever find yourself here, take a walk on Thunder Island and also drive across the Bridge of the Gods. Spectacular views!!

I fully agree with 6/7 of the other reviews at the time of my posting. The one disagreement was calling this location 'primitive sites' as they are basic water/electric no fires allowed.
County/Port has done a nice job of running and maintaining this small # of sites and small site campground. Originally I had several days booked but my day-adventure bicycle broke-down before arriving so the reservation was changed to one night . . .on arriving it was a Gosh - Darn moment as even without the bicycle adventures this would be a great location to explore. . . I will be back.
As my visit was late April everything was still in closed/winter mode and the CG had few visitors. Would expect during the 'summer season' reservations are a good idea.
Consumer Cellular coverage very good (two cell towers south of town).
CG wi-fi was excellent. . . . but only 3 campers an no boats at the dock.
Port folks I dealt with via phone . . very helpful and friendly.

This is one I almost don't want to rate in order to keep it a secret. It is a small campground so no crowds or noise to worry about. This is a great location with terrific host. Sites 5 -11 back up with unrestricted view of the historic locks. Very convenient to multiple hikes in the Gorge. Grounds are impeccable. Showers and bathrooms are basic but clean.. As stated in other reviews, larger rigs will want to check out the height restriction to get under the RR bridge to access the site.

What a great find! Little campground with great views and close to everything! We were in site 7 which backs to the water. The birds are singing, the sun is shining. We have electric and water hookups. 4 bars LTE on ATT. Tall rigs note there is a low bridge so you may not make it here so check that in the other reviews as I recall someone did mention the height. We just stopped for one overnight but would stay here again. The trains mentioned in other reviews weren’t that bothersome for us.
