If you're driving along Hwy 82/27 in Louisiana, there aren't many places to stay. This is just a couple of miles from the east shore of the Cameron ferry. It's basically a parking lot with electricity and water, but it is right on the Gulf, and there's plenty of room for the dog to run.
The facilities are pretty basic, there is a restroom with shower which is clean, but old. We had good cell service for our hotspot. The best that can be said for it is that it's one of the few places to stay in the area, and you'll get a very friendly welcome.
The campsites are just an open area where you back up next to a power/water station all lined up neatly with no vegetation in the camping area. The fishing from the pier is pretty good fishing for Red Fish. Bring a large cooler if you want to take one (only allowed one per day) home. All the Red's I saw caught started at 30 lbs, with some going 20 lbs more.
We wish we had known the showers are outdoor beach showers, not indoor bathing showers and the toilets are stainless steel bowls only. We had spent the last 3 nights in a similar campground and were looking forward to a shower. We’ll wait.
This camp is now closed to the public and the road is privately owned by the CNG plant to be built soon. No frills camp but it was on the Gulf and ship channel.
Sorry to see it go.
