“Bearing the scars of the battle of Blountville”
This place is on private property. Listing for informational purposes only. Please do not visit without express permission from the land owner. During the Civil War’s Battle of Blountville, this house stood between the lines as fighting swirled around it. Many area structures were destroyed, but this one survived and bears the scars of battle. Many women and children who lived in the area fled to the Historic Deery Inn for safety during the Battle of Blountville. Many of the town's buildings were destroyed in the battle, hit by cannon fire or burned to the ground.
I passed by on a random Saturday afternoon. My wife and I met the grounds keeper and was offered a tour inside the home. Amazing history. We walked the wooden floors and I even touched the square nails hammered into the floor. To think of the history and the passion within those walls gave me chills. Truly amazing!
