“dark, dirty, awesome little secret in Birmingham”
For over twenty years, the Nick has been recognized as the dark, dirty little secret on Birmingham's southside. At first glimpse, the building can be a bit intimidating due to it's rugged shack like appearance. It is the music that has made the Nick a mainstay in the Birmingham club scene. Once inside, however, this shack creates a life of its own. After a few moments of sheer darkness and your eyes have begun to adjust, you will find some of the coldest beer in town with some of the most intriguing personalities on both sides of the bar. Before you know it, you will feel right at home. The music heard almost every night of the week include local, regional and national acts (see the band list). The diverse range of acts add to the appeal of an evening at the Nick. One can hear blues, rock, punk, emo, pop, country, metal, bluegrass, rock-a-billy, roots rock or whatever your genre of choice. The Nick has had it all. It is an upclose and personal room voted three times in a row as Birmingham's best live music venue by Birmingham Weekly.
