The campground is on 150 acres and has a lot of sites, but most are taken up by permanent residents.
LOCATION: one hour to Birmingham, Pell City was the largest town nearby.
PROS
1. They are a Passport America campground, and they were willing to combine their weekly rate discount with the PA discount. We stayed for a week with a lakeside campsite at ~$17 a night, full hookups. This was a great deal.
2. The campground has access to two lakes: one is their own small, non-swimming lake that you can fish in (catch and release) without a fishing license. The other lake is a big boating lake and the campground has a boat ramp. There is a small beach and a designated swimming area off the big lake, but the beach itself isn't kept up very well.
CONS
1. I'd say the park is 95% permanent residents - we only saw one other RV come and go while we were there. Residents were not very respectful of campsite spaces - since we were on a lakefront site, non-lakefront residents would use our campsite for lake access and this diminished our privacy significantly, as we'd wake up in the morning to people socializing three feet away from our rig.
2. Sewer holding was very full and made it difficult to dump.
3. Cell phone reception was poor, both Verizon and AT&T, and we needed our WeBoost to get any work done or do anything on our phones that required data.
4. Amenities were dated. Bathrooms were old, playground was beat up.
In a pinch, I would camp here again, but I would certainly not seek it out in the future.
