Corps of Engineers Campground. Well maintained.
Remote, beautiful scenery beside the Black Warrior River.
If you require being connected to the outside world this isn't for you. No AT&T, no Verizon. But if you want escape from the all of that, this is perfect.

This is our second campground and first Army Corp of Engineers park we've stayed in since picking up our new van a week ago in Saint Louis. I've been reading about, and marking as favorites, campgrounds for future reference for over a year in anticipation of traveling full-time once my wife retires. This is my first review.
As with most COE parks about which I've read reviews, this park is nicely maintained. All the pads are concrete and the majority are level, and all of the sites are nicely cleaned after each use. I attribute some of the cleanliness to locals who use and appreciate having such a nice facility. They leave their sites clean.
All sites have water and electricity. There's a dump station on site with easy pull through access.
The park is relatively large and nice for walking or riding a bicycle. There's a boat ramp for those who come to fish and numerous places to wet a hook from the shore. There's a beach for swimming in warmer weather.
The bathhouse is relatively new and clean with flush toilets. Showers have adequate water pressure and the water is hot enough for a great shower. There are at least two additional locations on the grounds with flush toilets.
There's no cell service and no wi-fi. I could pick up between 3 and 5 television stations we have not watched. While we have a satellite dish, we've opted to forgo getting a service for now, so don't know about reception. A few of the river sites may provide enough exposure for satellite reception, but the other sites off of the river are heavily wooded and shaded and probably won't.
The campground is located a ways off of Interstate 20-59 and about an hour's drive from Birmingham, Alabama. The road is good and the drive to the campground is a bit winding, but not difficult. The campground is pretty isolated, so get all your provisions before you travel to the campground.
Lastly, the campground is located in a beautiful setting just below a lock and damn on the Warrior River. It has been really quiet even when we had a group of college students next to us for the last few days. All the hosts we've met are nice and helpful.
The $14.00 price per night reflects my senior pass discount.

8 sites along river and 28 sites in woods along stream. Picnic tables, grills, level sites, water, electric and wonderful shower facilities. Dump station. Wish we could have stayed more nights. Dam and locks near entrance.

We had a site that was right on the water and it was a lovely setting. There was a nice wooden deck almost on the water’s edge. However only a few sites are waterfront. Most are buried among the trees up a small hill. As with all Corps of Engineer parks, the sites are well constructed and level. There was a restroom right at the start of the camping area, but the attractive stone bathhouse with showers was way too far to walk from our site. The downside for us was location. This is a very remote campground. It was probably 45 minutes from the highway. There is nothing else nearby except a small convenience store, though we didn’t check it out. As with most Corps campgrounds, there was no real hiking. This is obviously set up for boating. There were more boat trailer parking places than campsites, not counting the separate day use boating area. However, if you like to get away from it all and have a boat, you would mostly likely enjoy a stay here. The quality was what you expect from the Army Corps of Engineers. Our rate reflects the Senior Access Pass discount.

The park is approx 30 miles from town driving on mostly good road. Even if you have a reservation, you need to see the camp host if the park kiosk is not open. You will need a gate code to get into the campsites. We originally had site 4 reserved but changed to site 5. We are in a 36 ft 5th sheel with 3 slides. The sites are long enough but site 4 had a retaining wall on the drivers side making it extremely difficult for us to get our slide out. Also, there is decking with a rail around it, so when we did get parked, even in site 5 we could not get around our rv without going totally around the decking. There are 8 riverside sites. They are really nice except when we were there, (September 29 and 30) there we hundreds of small ants everywhere...We had so many ants in our rv I can't even tell you. Of course, we didnt have ant spray or powder with us. All the sites had a picnic table, grill, fire pit. The bathrooms were very clean. There is a laundry with one washer and one dryer on site. The camp hosts (in spot 1 when you pull in) were the friendliest and nicest people. Bottom line, if you have a larger rv with slides, you may or may not fit in the river sites due to the width not the length. We did not have cell service or internet service.

We camped at Burchfield Branch Park for the weekend and had a great time. The rv pads are concrete and level. The spots are all very spacious and come with a picnic table, grill, fire ring and small table. The bath house was nice and clean and heated and the camp hosts were all very nice. There is no cell service at this campground. So enjoy your time away from your phone. We will be back.

Just a few miles from the city and yet so far out in the woods. Our site was by the river and incredibly quiet. The peace in this site is amazing. Since there is no signal from any carrier, you will be off the grid for a peaceful stay.
Sites 1-8 are on the river and tight. all others are wide and very open. Our 35 foot class A was a tight fit in site #6 but with the terraced deck looking over the river, it was wonderful. I would not select sites 1-6 if you are over 30 feet.

We were blown away by how peaceful Burchfield was. Lot 17 felt like we were all alone. There was adequate place between us and the neighbors, a peaceful creek separating us. The bath house was super clean. The camp hosts were active and extremely friendly.

Was registered to stay 4 nights but was so disappointed we just left and forfeited one night’s charge. Absolutely no cell reception, no internet, and no tv channels. Sites are right next to each other. Sure 1 said camp host site but was junky, empty bottles thrown around, etc. our site was so small that our toad hung over into the camp host site.

Sites 1- 8 are right on the water and have patio/ deck areas for you to enjoy. Sites 9-35 are set back in the woods with a nice creek running through them. This entire campground is exceptionally cute. The river side sites are a bit cramped but there is still plenty of personal space. There is no service from any major carrier (I am not sure how the previous reviewer got service on a Sprint device, but we had none). It is at least a 30 min drive to any sort of town so make sure you have all your supplies before you head out here. Our 35’ motor home and small car fit just fine in our site. All the sites are very level as well. On a weird note, there are 35 sites and SIX camp hosts... which seem seems excessive.
Overall, this is a great campground for those looking to get away. If you need internet and cell phone service, this isn’t a place for you.
