Our site was in the older section of the campground with water and electric. The back in site has a gravel pad, picnic table, fire pit, and a beautiful view of the lake. We were surrounded by trees and there was plenty of space between the sites. The camp host was very friendly and helpful. Every thing was clean and well maintained. The dump station is conveniently located on your way out of the park.
There is also a new section with paved pads and full hookups. We didn't know it until we arrived but we were there during their annual Trick or Treat weekend and the park was full. Many people make reservations a year in advance for this fun event.
I would highly recommend this park.

There are two campground loops: one that is older and the other that has been recently updated. We were in the former loop and really enjoyed our stay. Our site was heavily treed and located right next to the bath house and a large green field. There was a lot of privacy between camp sites.
The bath house provided hot showers and clean bathrooms. There were also laundry facilities available. Each site had a nice wooden picnic table, a grill and a hook for hanging food or garbage bags. The garbage had to be packed to the front of the park and deposited into the dumpster.
We took the opportunity here to read, write and spend a few quiet and enjoyable days. This campground is a very convenient location to explore the Selma-Birmingham Civil Rights trail.

This campground started out at 5 stars and dropped as the week went on. Monday through Wednesday it was a perfect paradise, as noted in the other reviews. There were only three other campers in my loop (Antioch) and I had a beautiful, secluded riverfront spot. Five stars, perfection. Thursday the campground started filling up and it became evident how closely packed some of the sites were. The trees provided privacy and I was lucky in that my site (101) was bordered by the river on two sides. The other campers were mostly quiet and pleasant. Unfortunately, when Saturday rolled around we discovered just how close the Montgomery Motor Speedway was. It was a little over a mile away, but it didn’t matter. Starting in the afternoon and all the way until 11 pm, it sounded like the race track was on our site. It was loud and disruptive and awful.
Overall I would definitely go back to this campground again, as it is conveniently located near Montgomery and has beautiful river views. I would avoid the weekends, particularly if it’s a race weekend.
Of note, I stayed in the cheaper, older Antioch loop. It has gravel pads that did get a little waterlogged when it rained and some of them (especially 111-113) were extremely sloped. Most, including mine, were perfectly level. The Catoma loop is newer with paved pads and sewer hookups, but is spaced about like an RV park. It also seems much more crowded. When we walked through on a Tuesday nearly every spot was filled and most people were there for the full two weeks.

Gunter Hill has two loops: Catoma and Antioch.
Catoma is the newest and nicest! Most sites in this loop are level, large concrete or paved surfaces, and large enough to handle any size RV. There was plenty of room between sites.
Antioch loop is older, gravel sites, close to other sites, and many appeared unlevel. This loop does not provide sewer hookups.
Our site was clean, including the fire pit! It was wide and long enough to handle both our TV and TT, with plenty of room to spare.
We were away from the any of the playgrounds or buildings, so it was quiet and peaceful.
Would stay hear again any time in the future; hopefully, longer next time.

Beautiful location, but no wifi at all or phone service and hosts called my husband an a**hole after he questioned them about changing spots. He never yelled or cursed at them. They also referred to us as "you people are all the same!" We ended up having to get the supervisors help. It was a horrible experience and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. There was also ants and poison ivy everywhere...😢

We only stayed one night however it was beautiful, quiet and I would have loved to stay longer. We stayed in the newer Catoma loop. We were here on a Tuesday evening so probably important to take heed on the other reviews regarding weekends and the raceway noise. We found our stay to be quite lovely.
The GPS coordinates listed here are incorrect and we did find an address of 561 Booth Rd which seemed to lead us here. Also, the Corp website has written directions coming off I-65. We had some trouble finding it since we used the coordinates and found them to be way off.

I wish we could have stayed here longer. I booked this spot as an overnight on our way to North Carolina. It's certainly on the list to stay at next time we are in Alabama. We stayed on the newer side, Catoma Loop. Site 49, a very spacious and level cement pull thru. I chose this spot online so that we would be close to the restrooms and bath house since we were just overnighting. All the spots on this side are very nice. It was very quiet even with the kids at the playground next to the bathrooms. The bathrooms were clean. The shower in the bathhouse was a little interesting, something I haven't experienced yet, it's a push button and the water only stays on for a short time. It also comes out very powerful. I understand it's for water conservation. But I couldn't put my face under the water to rinse it out because it hurt. Check in was quick and easy. Sites are well maintained as was the park.

This was our 2nd visit & definitely won't be our last. The folks that greet you at the gate are friendly & helpful. The sites are spacious nice. We have senior pass so rate is half price so $13 for FHU is awesome. Park is beautiful & well maintained. Checked out the restroom/showers & they were clean & nice. There is also a small laundramat. It was clean. I did 2 loads of laundry for $3.75 total!! They have books & magazines for browsing or exchanging while you are waiting. The lake is beautiful. There was a train nearby but the sound wasn't disturbing. I read reviews that mentioned speedway noise but we haven't encountered that yet. Cell service was spotty. Talk & text didn't seem an issue but data usage iffy.

This was a beautiful location on the Alabama River. Just a short drive off of I-65 from Montgomery, the campground is nestled in the woods. We were on the Catoma Loop and all the sites were concrete pads, full hook-ups. There were pull throughs and back ins. Our site had a 167 foot driveway - backed right in the trees. Every site came with trees and a minimum 6 squirrels which kept the canine entertained! Our site had a lake view - which was relaxing. Lots of roadways to ride bikes or walk. There were some very small trails in the woods but we didn't explore. The bath house at our area wasn't used but it seemed adequate. We did not see a dog park, but there was a cute human playground close by.
The only negative (which really isn't) is there are no grocery stores or restaurants close by. There is a Dollar General less than a mile which offered minimal food supplies. So bring food options with you.
What you do have is peace and quiet....with a beautiful surrounding.

Sites 1 to 75 have full hookups, level concrete pad, picnic table, and trees for shade. We were in pull-through site 37 along the river (bank is 10 feet above water at that spot) for our first weekend stay followed by pull-through site 49 next to shower house for the next weekend (an en route stop to/from Gulf Shores AL). Shower house is clean and features private shower rooms with locking doors opening to the outside. Roads are paved and our grandkids enjoyed using their scooters. Other young campers ran around on battery-powered carts (may or may not be allowed, but it seems to be a safe, friendly place and no one stopped the kids).
