“discover the history & culture of Abita Springs”
The Abita Springs Trailhead Museum is a quaint folk art museum located at 22049 Main Street. The mission of the museum is to celebrate, display and support the history and culture of Abita Springs. Located on the Abita River, the Trailhead & Park has several sheltered picnic tables, historic pavilion, splash pad, Town Museum and a children's playground. The pavilion was designed by Tomas K. Sully for the New Orleans Cotton Centennial Exposition of 1884 and later moved to Abita Springs and reconstructed over the then famous flowing spring. After Hurricane Katrina, the pavilion and historic Museum building were relocated to the entrance of the park. This began our entire Park improvement project. We are proud of our award-winning Trailhead & Park and continually enhance and improve it. It has truly become a destination spot for residents and visitors alike.
