A three week trip to sample the state park system in New Mexico doing mostly dispersed camping ($10 a night, no hookups) with a few nights camping in National Forest for free :)

Busy park with a really nice beach area and clean park. Reservations recommended for this one even in off peak season if you want full hookups.

Awesome park with lots of site but very busy even in the off peak season. I would highly recommend reservations.

Was not able to camp here, was completely full and noone with the park was around so I moved on to City of Rocks SP. I should have gone to Rockhound SP first.

30 miles from Denning or Silver City, poor cell service but amazing park with easy desert hiking trails and dark skies. Reservations almost required for this park, I was luck to get a spot.

Free camping in Gila National Forest at a location made specifically for dark skies observation. Unfortunately it was overcast and almost a full moon so I didn't get to see the sky but has two vault toilets and a couple rocked spots for RV. Easy access.

Yay, a great trip which could have been made better by spending more time at each of the stop locations.
