“Beauty in Every Direction!”
The high wall, needle-like spires of the Organ Mountains curve dramatically around a semicircle of Chihuahuan Desert habitat at the Aguirre Spring Campground. The campground, nestled at the base of spectacular cliffs, overlooks the Tularosa Basin and White Sands National Monument. Alligator juniper, gray oak, mountain mahogany and sotol are a few of the abundant plant species here. Seasonal springs and streams occur in the canyon bottoms, with a few perennial springs that support riparian habitats. Hiking, camping, horseback riding, picnicking, watchable wildlife. Leashed pets are allowed on trails. The picnic/camp sites have shelters or shade trees; handicapped-accessible restrooms also are available.

YOU MUST GO TO WHITE SANDS WHEN YOU ARE HERE. it was pure magic if magic were made out of white gypsum sand. there is no page currently on roadtrippers for white sands so i must share my enthusiasm for white sands here unfortunately.
This was a beautiful campground. The campsites were somewhat close together but each site had a picnic table and a grill and was very functional.
This is a gem! 4-5 miles off US 70 and what a place! Mountains to the South and West, great trails, Bathrooms, picnic tables under shelters, fire pits all you could ask for. Rangers come by each evening and the place is secure.
Really beautiful setting. Next time several days there will be appropriate.

Liked this place a lot! Most sites are uneven. Please note that this is not just a campground. Spots are also used by day use folks. Get here before the weekend. Water is at the host station 4 miles before the campground. The spigot is more than 25 feet away from your rig, so plan accordingly. We had a spare hose, connected the two and filled up before going to the campground. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and it was crowded, but many around us were there for the day and cleared out by 7-8 pm when the park closes. It got really quiet! You can leave at any time, but can only enter after 7 am. There are tire shredders at the gate. This is a one way, one lane and winding road so changing your mind to return to a campsite might make you complete the loop a second time unless you are in a nimble vehicle. There are trash cans as well as a concrete pad with sun shelter at each site. Pay via envelope cash or check only. We saw rangers come through regularly. Pit toilets were available and were also clean. We have a 20 ft teardrop pulled by a Tacoma. A couple of the dips as well as the tight turns while parking would be a challenge for bigger rigs. Would return! (The critters are now active as we saw a tarantula and a rattle snake while hiking Pine Tree trail.)

No problems with the road in our 20ft Travato. The road becomes one-way before you arrive at the campground. The first few sites are located right off the shoulder off the road (#1-5) then there is a loop of maybe two dozen sites off a loop to the right. We didn't realize until we found a spot in there and walked back to the road to pay, that there are more roadside sites and a second loop of campsites further up the one-way road. But you can't go back to the first loop if you want to drive ahead to check out the second loop, without re-circling the entire one-way route! Most free sites were eroded or sloped but #8 worked (fortunately no one camped in #6 or #7 which share a parking space continuous to #8). But it was hot until sunset and heated up quickly at sunrise. Gorgeous sunset and night of big stars, though, and total quiet. We checked out the second loop on our way out the next morning, and none of them (sites #37 and up) were level or large enough for even our small van. Utilized van's low gears getting back down, for sure, but no issues. The place is well worth the detour from Las Cruces, even if you are just traveling through. We had good Verizon.

What a great little campground! Isolated enough to be peaceful, close enough to Las Cruces and White Sands to be convenient. And did I mention the views?
Now, the downsides:
- We had the bad judgement to be here over Memorial Day weekend, so there were some big, noisy groups. Shoulda known better.
- Leveling is a challenge. We "straddled the hump" on site 18 to get level front-back, then needed 4 blocks under the left tires to get levelish side-side.

Road in is tight but doable with 24' chassis, not much bigger could do it. There are only about 4 sites big enough and level enough for a motor home, several more could accommodate a trailer less than 22'.
Gorgeous view of the valley looking east and rock spires behind you. There are a couple of trails to hike and if you are a rock climber this would be a great spot to setup base.
Lots of birds about, bearproof trash and clean vault toilets. I would come back.

This is not an “RV park.” It’s mostly tents with an occasional camper van or pop up. It’s quaint, quiet and serene. It is no place for gigantic rigs that need generators to run microwaves and ACs. People come here to relax, enjoy the quiet and hike.
But everyone’s entitled to experience public lands, so feel free to drag your massive rig up this one lane curvy mountainside road. I’ve seen only one pull-through. The rest are back in and some sites are accessible only by foot for tents. Please leave dogs who bark are everything the wind blows.

This is a great place to stay. The staff is friendly and helpful with local knowledge. Great hikes but watch out for snakes in the summertime. The entrance is winding with hair pin turns. We pulled our 22’ 5th wheel with no problems. The campsites are not level and more designed for tents but with some blocks and good wheel chocks you can find a good site for a trailer. Water is available at the camp host and it’s the best I have had.

We found this place while looking for a different one. So glad we did! We were surrounded by beautiful mountains. It snowed a couple of times. The spaces are tight so you have to watch your rig backing in. We did fine in our 22 5th wheel. Only small rigs under 25 are allowed. No dump station but there is water at the camp host site. All in all it was a great experience. We did not have cell or internet service. We use Verizon.
