We live in Kelowna, B.C. and have done numerous trips to the U.S. by car. Here are some places we loved and some places we haven't been yet, and really want to experience. Hope to go back real soon!
Winthrop, Washington, United States
Not too far from the Canadian boarder. A good first night stay, ready for the next long drive gap.
Dry Falls, Washington, United States
Well worth a look see. Crazy landscape...imagine back when the water cascaded all around. It's a wonderland for dreamers.
Beer o'clock.
Awesome examples of aviation history. It has a great personal story feel, to the place, with lots of donations from families in the local community. Very cool!
Looks cool in the pics.
Hollister, Idaho, United States
Stop gap.
Wells, Nevada, United States
What a gem! I've been to the John Day Fossil Beds and found myself some fossil leaves, at the pick your own, in Fossil and it was fascinating...add a garnet to the collection...don't mind if I do.
Ely, Nevada, United States
Big engines. Gotta love the steam rail. It's a massively important part of the U.S. history of industry and any time any where it is worth taking a look.
Different side of Vegas. Perfect introduction on the way in before things get insane. Great to have a historical perspective. What a difference to the Vegas of today!
Gangsters, guns, crime and punishment. Very interesting and shocking.
Why not add a bit of biking to the trip. Great break from the driving a different perspective again of the landscape.
So lots to do and see I've been to many places on here, and in between, but it just goes to show there is always something different and new that just slipped through the gap. I love this part of the world and could keep going back year on year if our funds allowed it. Well recommended to anyone wanting to road trip especially if you have the facility to camp or stay in your vehicle like we have. It keeps the over all costs down if you can do it that way. In short...go for it...you wont regret it!
