“Preserving Nevada train history”
The Nevada Northern Railway Museum is dedicated to the restoration, preservation, interpretation, and operation of the Nevada Northern Railway historic facilities, yards, and rail collection. This evolving museum gives people the opportunity to experience a world-class, historic, working railroad.
You can actually Be the Engineer of one of their steam locomotives like Rick Dale did on American Restoration.
Unfortunately they didn't have any trains running, but we got a nice introduction to the history of the old copper mine operation and had a stroll around the old machine shop.
It was ok. Nothing to go out of your way for. The museums were ok. They only very cool thing was the old steam trains.
Explore this working train yard, pop into the museum, and take a 90 minute scenic and educational ride on their old locomotive! The railroad was a huge part of American history, especially in Nevada, so take the chance to really experience it for yourself.
